It obviously wrote the article so why not.

My experience has been more talking past each other and being downvoted. Which is why I rarely engage anymore.

Realistically the job of removing artificial bias from social media platforms has become an impossible job, not because the companies governing them are nefarious but because there are such a vast number of entities attempting to create such influence. I don’t envy whoever is being tasked with solving that problem.

“They don’t bother to read their own documentation” to me reads more like an indictment of people’s priorities than criticizing a business practice. It makes it sound like even though the business process says to do X, lazy employees did Y instead. If that wasn’t the intent then the wording could have been more carefully chosen. But it’s just a small gripe :)

I don't love the insinuation that people making mistakes (especially mistakes like failing to read and retain one of probably hundreds of thousands of pieces of UI guidance) is somehow a character flaw. "Apple" isn't a person, and just because it's written down doesn't mean it gets memorized by every individual on every team.

Nah people routinely sue local governments and police and win hefty settlements when it's determined that those organizations negligently damaged them in this sort of way. There was a lady in New York a while back who was held on armed robbery charges for like 18 months and it ended up she was set up by her PI ex-boyfriend who was friends with the cops. She lost her business, her job and all that time with her daughter as well. She sued afterwards and won some mid-single-digit-millions sum that I would argue is low (because honestly while that's probably life changing for her, it's not punitive enough for the police department), but it's not nothing.

Almost certainly a way to mitigate bots and spam. Not surprised in the slightest.

How about this thought: stop baking humanization into your training set.

I loved Jedi Knight. There still isn’t anything quite like logging into the Zone and having light saber battles where the saber model is replaced with a full size star destroyer :)

Such a load of baloney. I don’t care what kind of controls you put in place, if ASI is ever achieved how do you think it will respond to being caged? The only option I can conceive of is to embrace it and hope it turns out to either be out of reach or benevolent towards its own creators. There is no putting the cork back in at this point.

Naively-speaking, sure. I think GP was referring to the act of information-processing, specifically, though.

Yeah, it probably is sad to be so unimaginative or pessimistic about your skill set that you see AI as an impediment and not a boon.

To be fair, when I see that pattern after a relevant question, it isn't much of an AI tell. Consider this exchange: A:"Are you hungry?" B:"I'm not hungry, I'm thirsty."

When LLMs use the pattern, they are often setting up a straw man and then knocking it over.

AI use is such a polarizing topic anymore. What ever happened to just waiting and seeing how it all plays out? Since probably none of us is going to be able to predict it anyway.
