Reconstruction ended more than 10 years after Lincoln's assassination, he would not have remained in office forever. I think for most Unionists the war was not about abolition or racial equality and there simply was not the political will to make the changes necessary to prevent Jim Crow in the south.

only if you assume that the ethics department at Raytheon has absolute power over which contracts Raytheon takes and what kinds of products it produces. which is plainly absurd.

it's not exactly a great time in American history for the 14th amendment

no need for wild speculation, we know that Raytheon is a US Defense contractor and we know that the US targets civilians (including US citizens) abroad for extrajudicial assassinations, starts destabilizing wars without meaningful strategic objectives, supports genocide etc. These things are all extremely well documented, for those paying attention the existence of Raytheon is inherently unethical

if it's verifiable, I'd love for you to verify it. I don't consider hearsay a strong form of verification

> maybe you're just wrong and won't admit it, clutching to your preconceived notions.

I assume in your world this is only something other people do, but your judgement is perfect right?

> Was the Union army complicit in the crimes of the Confederacy by simply allowing them to drop their arms and walk away as well?

yes, they were. the USA if the Unionists has followed through on reconstruction looks like a utopia compared to now

I think this is undoubtedly true, but I also think not all knowledge work is created equally. A lawyer spending 80 hours reading case files is not really performing a comparable task to a programmer designing and implementing a program
