Do you have any source to back this claim? I haven't heard of any Facebook, Instagram, Google or macOS rewrites being fully done with agents.

I remember this being said as far back as 2022 yet we're still here fixing things manually when the models inevitably code themselves into a hairball convoluted enough they can't find a way out.

Great that you and your kids had this privilege. A lot of college grads these days struggle to get a job, let alone one that pays enough to rent their own place not one shared with roommates. Honestly, your replies sound very condescending and tone-deaf.

So give up on hobbies and everything occasional that requires some equipment since they can’t keep it at home, so basically give up on things that make life worth living to a lot of people. Yeah nah.

Nvidia drivers crashed Windows 7 for me multiple times and so did virtualization software (VMware in particular). I had Windows 10 crash a few times when I last touched it doing really nothing special. I'm not using any ancient software or obscure peripherals. But yeah, if it works on your machine then I guess...

I honestly don't get this, what have we gotten since that's a considerable UI improvement? Bigger paddings? Flat UI?

IIRC you can even configure custom colors, have dark mode, etc. It might look dated with the gray color scheme but that's really the only thing I can guess would look dated to someone.

No internal customs, easy trade and travel between the multiple relatively small countries, and a very stable common monetary unit, are "nothing to show for"??

If you had lived in an EU country that wasn't in the EU 20-30 years ago, you would've known damn well what's there today to show for. You either don't live in the EU or you've got amnesia and can't remember what it used to be like. Cut your bullshit.

Might it just be that people are buying from Temu because stuff at the mall is 10x as expensive and doesn’t even last all that longer nowadays? People can’t afford to pay 40€ for a T shirt.

Then the bigger member states will say that they’re contributing so much more but get very little voting power etc. It’s not an easy problem to solve, hence the current indirect system.

We had a federation around here called Yugoslavia and we saw how it played out. Forcing different nations to agree on everything down to things that are basically cultural preferences never worked well. Regulations, bureaucracy and laws are often based on cultural preferences. The EU tries to find a common baseline but still leaves a lot to each member state to avoid this problem.

It’s unlikely because smaller member states wouldn’t want that as they’d be outvoted by bigger members and thus forced to implement laws that might not even make sense in those (smaller) countries.

To be fair, it was mostly outsourced to China, at least in Slovenia with our electronics development and manufacturing (Iskra and Gorenje). US stuff has also always been more expensive in every category except software.

Standardized costs would just hurt the poorer members more. You’re underestimating the economical difference between EU member states. It’s more like if Californian businesses had to compete with Mexican in a single market, and Mexicans would be paying Californian prices with Mexican wages in the end.

Right, so tell me where in Europe can I buy replacement parts for random electronics when I need them? Often very specific ICs, last time it was a cassette deck pinch roller, etc.

Preferably somewhere where it’s cheaper than the value of the thing being repaired.

The sad part is that we actually used to have better desktop RAD tooling than we do now. I’m thinking about Borland Delphi, C++ Builder, etc., it was pretty easy to make a decent desktop app.
