> if Anthropic models run in a Google cage, does that not also mean Google can distill Anthropic models even easier (both fast and unseen)?

Not really in the interest of the cloud org to allow that, they don't really care how well deepmind is doing as long as they can sell TPU and API (incl. reselling openai and anthropic).

Yes we're not done yet, but renewable only started gaining share again around 2010, and how quickly solar/battery is being deployed is really impressive.

Yes but primary energy isn't a good metric. There's 40-60% loss when converting fossil fuel to final energy being consumed.

That said if we're counting bridge/ferry in other countries why not also count it in Switzerland? (Ferry: Horgen and Beckenried, for trains: Lotschberg, Furka, Simplon, Vereina)

> Apparently they overstated revenue in an attempt to try to provide a direct comparison with Anthropic's reported metrics.

Just to clarify from my understanding of the quote, "they" here is openai investors, not openai.

It's all relative to how much shifted you are to the solar time anyway.

Large areas in Europe are permanently away from solar time already (regardless of DST).

Gemini is the gemini app (gemini.google.com), LLM output on search is AI mode / AI overview. Not surprising given it's google, but those are vastly different product / teams / infrastructure / web data availability.

> they have near infinite money and others have not

Given the very high margins on inference, once volume is large enough the other can also start printing enough money.

> In other news, evangelical christians ask scientists to stop publishing about evolution.

not sure it's comparable, but the issue is that for a lot of those mathematical results, they don't really have utility by themselves. The utility is the new branches/understanding that's being developped.

> And why would it get more traction than Mercurial?

There's no network effect headwinds, it's interoperable with git (I assume most people using jj have an upstream repo that's on git).

Also infrastructure costs might be billed differently between industrial vs retail.

(And the marginal cost on infrastructure isn't necessarily paid be the people increasing the demand)
