Looking back my guess would be that infiltration is an even bigger danger. The opportunity of visibility and power, without the hassle of climbing the ranks for decades inside an established party, attracts a certain type of human.

There are multiple strings coming together here.

AI-generated code works great for me, most of the time. I'm productive, I ship, I can show stakeholders stuff in no time and and they are mostly happy.

But the development sucks. I don't even really look at the code anymore, because reading generated code is a drag. And there is no reason really to do it. There is no fulfillment of "I solved this real problem using some intricate logic that came out of my mind". I just throw tokens at it, and it works, great.

I don't really talk to coworkers anymore about the code. We don't do coding sessions together, or bang our heads together over some hard problem, because there are no hard problems. We don't learn from each other anymore. Everyone just asks their agents, and they are fine.

I feel my brain atrophying. I forget how to do things. Developing now feels like being kinda drunk.

Can this be solved? Absolutely: just do it like you used do! Just like quitting to smoke is easy, just don't do it, right? But what if all your colleagues go out to smoke all the time? Do you sit alone? Do you go with them, but just stand next to them in their fume? Or do you need to find new friends? Going back feels like going back to an Abacus after you invented the pocket calculator.

That's cool. I've dreamed of having real tiered NPCs that follow different missions (e.g. a farmer just wants to take care of his farm and crops, while a king is more concerned about preserving and extending power etc.)

I wonder how long it will take for them to figure out that they can send and receive messages from air-gapped system by somehow using their own electronics like connected cables as antennas.

If you tell a model to find flaws, it will find flaws. What qualifies as critical to you?

Question is if we even want that. Video games often are escapism, we want an illusion of reality but not actual reality. I mean there definitely is a market for that, but I don't think it's for everyone.

It's an interesting take, thank you for that.

But for the love of Linus please remove that background animation or give me the possibility to disable it, it's distracting.

The writing style is very AIy, as a feedback.

This is already happening. I've heard from people working in customer support that when in the past someone would call or send a short mail with a minor complaint they'd just find a solution quickly. Now they will send huge generated requests containing all kinds of legal trigger words that have mandatory processes following, e.g. personal data requests where all kinds of departments have to be queried first. Everything over some minor or non-existing issue.

Of course, but is was never about technical feasibility, but about distribution. People use the app that everyone else already uses. You see the problem.

Still remember when WhatsApp cost a buck a year and was just simple chat? Those were the good days, until they got offered enough billions to turn it into the same ad-selling machine every successful app will eventually become unless the founders are truly uninterested in money.

Here is another view: maybe AI will automate jobs that are overpaid anyway and this might raise the baseline for the jobs that make everyday life actually possible. Of course only if the extra revenue doesn't flow into the pockets of billionaires, which is the more probable path

Learning stuff is hard for most people. We like to avoid hard stuff. Of course you can say that it's just about having the right mindset, but so is quitting to smoke.

They too will tell you to ask the AI. Then you can go to your supervisors supervisor, which is already a big pain, because academia is also a lot about interpersonal dependence, as your supervisor can make your life easy or hard, and they might not take criticism well.

I'm glad that worked out for you and I hope that you have no pain anymore! The tricky thing with teeth is that even a small infection can develop into a serious condition, life-threatening even, if untreated and it's hard to impossible for oneself to tell.

A capable developer will at some point become a capable people manager :)
