That's a good point. Fwiw, I use throwaways because I don't want certain types of users to know anything about me. I wouldn't have felt this way, say, 5 years back.

What tools do you use for filtering if I may ask?

Say more?

I've been reading HN since 2013 and the quality has gone down, kind of like eternal September.

I'm sure disabled or elderly people would agree with you.

A more uniform experience across taxi rides.

I'm sure many people have had enjoyable rides with taxis. I've had many.

But I've also has rides where the drivers was obviously exhausted and driving recklessly, and I've had a few drives where the driver started going on about some insane political topics.

Some days I don't want the latter. Having that service would be a nice option.

Btw, I'm using throwaways because I want to keep a nice firewall between the new surge of doomer trolls on HN and my life.

Im happy to discuss and debate views

How is this scamming you or anyone?

It's an engineering demo. It obviously showcases impressive tech from several fields like automotive design, material science, etc.

Whether this turns into vaporware is something that will shake out in the future. Calling this a scam is jumping the gun.

> SOLVES ACTUAL PROBLEMS

Can you elaborate how the Mother of All demos suggested guis and networks and a mouse would solve actual problems?

Sign of the times.

"Back in my day", HN felt more signal than noise. Oh there was flaming and name calling, but there was a lot less of what you point out: simple outgroup dunking.

What the author here misses is that the verbosity is often a signal of work done.

It's like the "alternatives considered" section in a design doc or RFC: it shows you've thought through different approaches, considered trade-offs, etc. It's a little like showing your work combined with taking the reader on a journey.

Nice collections, cool to have these in one place.
