New java is not very verbose.

>I'm sure there's tech-debt and esoteric compatibility concerns which make evolving Java hard, but from a developer's perspective it's just glacial to evolve and the result is weaksauce.

This used to be the case a few years ago. But not anymore. Java is evolving very rapidly compared to those years.

Not always. See PostgreSQL as a counter example.

Hindsight is perfect in stock markets, but with 100k in initial investment in 2010 in VUG, and a 40k/mo recurring investment until now (little more than half the savings), it would be worth 33M+ now.

Obviously this means one has to be earning that much for 15+ years.

Marketing always was a forcing function. The barrier to product building has dropped immensely now, so it is more about "finesse" part of the product in that area.

100%. Product finesse + Marketing is now the "moat".

I don't disagree. All regulatory issues. But, "not everyone wants to live in one state for tech jobs" - the trend is going the other way where hybrid/office is becoming the norm again. In any case, not too long ago, we were all working from office, which was the norm.

Im a noob to this area, but why is the article picking up on 4 hour batteries? Why not 8 or 12 hour batteries (nights, cloudy days)?

Makes no difference for the current conversation - which is - is Microsoft (and others) paying way less to H1Bs than American workers.

Microsoft -https://h1bgrader.com/h1b-sponsors/microsoft-corporation-ew2...

Wipro - https://h1bgrader.com/h1b-sponsors/wipro-limited-l9k5mz3r21/...

I picked two examples to show the disparity. I do like where this is going, but as it frequently happens, it feels like a weapon than can be wielded selectively.

A law should handle fraud across all abusers.

Is this OpenAI catching up with Anthropic artifacts? At the same time they say "We’ve trained GPT‑6 to compose responses using text, visuals and interactive elements...", rather than a harness.

.. and undo logs make rollbacks and crash recoveries slower. It's a trade off. MySQL storage engine architecture is nice, postgresql extension mechanism is nice.. and so on.

Supposed to be unbiased because "Internal UK government report"?. Both the train and the riots were crimes against humanity. Sorry if Indians don't believe shit coming from the UK.

I am somehow in the "I like Red Delicious" camp. Perhaps because I was used to Kashmiri apples, that apparently share the cultivar roots of red delicious. Never liked the more acidic varieties. Actually like the "mealy" texture - (it feels grainy to me)
