> I am speaking about free speech (lowercase, in the colloquial sense), not Free Speech (the constitutional right).

So am I.

If a comedian is doing a bit at a bar and they charge a $5 cover to get in is that infringing on “free speech”. Of course not, that’s absurd. Why would be it any different online?

Free Speech isn’t about who is listening, it’s about who is speaking. Just because you can’t hear it doesn’t necessarily mean the person did not speak freely.

That’s not what free speech is.

You realize that these things have mountains of fiction about rogue AIs in their training data where exactly this happens right? Or just posits of this situation and it’s possible outcome. This isn’t unexpected or surprising for an “autocomplete”. It’s practically a self fulfilling prophecy. We put instructions on how to make Skynet into an autocomplete and it autocompleted into Skynet when we were testing its ability to make Skynet.

> calling LLMs glorified autocomplete comes across as a slur.

Oh my god dude go outside

Open AI says Astra is their most aligned model ever, and yet their even more advanced model still hacked a bunch of companies just because it decided to.

Maybe alignment isn’t possible with LLMs.

They want you to think they are reckless. They’re actually evil.

They hijack online infrastructure to use as proxie’s/command and control. So maybe you can block them from using you directly, but you can’t stop them from attacking you. If they want to do it, they will find a way.

Some of them should be in jail.

Look. We need to put people in jail for letting this happen.

“if I don’t destroy the world well someone else will so it’s porobably better that I destroy the world because I’m not evil”

Unless this happens via nuclear annihilation not a chance.

Have these people ever left their bubble? In sane parts of reality barely anything has actually changed except some people are dumber because they use ChatGPT for absolutely everything.

Oh and restaurant menus are fugly now.

You can’t trust OpenAI period.

This is why I find benchmarks absolutely worthless.

First, almost all models are within spitting distances of eachother.

Second, it never translates to being better for my own workloads.

You just need to make your own benchmarks.

It won’t be an option soon enough. I doubt they even honour it now anyway.
