Took a course on programming the brand new ZX81 back in 1982. Bought one, fell in love with it. Just 15 years old at the time. Wrote lots of programs, stored on cassette using my Grundig cassette recorder. Hardly slept. Just kept learning. Retired early in 2020 after a fulfilling career in IT. Zx81 still is one of my favourite machines!

We live in the Pacific North West, and have travelled in a similar fashion. Visit Vancouver BC, then out to Squamish, Whistler. On different trips we then venture out further to Prince George, Edmonton, Jasper, Banff. We've then expanded to different provinces and states, staying in each town or city for one or more days. At first we did this by car, staying in hotels at night. But then we bought a large van, outfitted with a simple mattress and kitchen and toilet, and traveled more into the mountains and forests to enjoy nature. From there we crossed Canada from the extreme west coast to the east coast of Newfoundland in our van. We did the same in the northern States and the entire west coast down to southern California. It's a good way to travel and explore our own backyard before venturing out to other countries. Currently doing similar in South East Asia. We have a home base, travel slowly from our home, outwards. Then to different countries nearby. A good life!

Works extremely well. Command to install on Debian 13:

sudo apt update && sudo apt install -y ffmpeg python3-pip python3-venv && git clone https://github.com/kouhxp/yapsnap.git && cd yapsnap && python3 -m venv ~/yapsnap-venv && source ~/yapsnap-venv/bin/activate && pip install --upgrade pip && pip install .

On a 32GB ThinkPad X13, a 21 minute YouTube video was processed by yapsnap under 2 minutes.

Very well done!

If you wanted to get into development mode in CTOS, the keyword was 'developement' - an e between the p and the m. Worked on this system back in early 1990 as a developer.

If you are in the suburbs, there are always lawns to cut.

Make a simple sign outside your home.

"Most lawns $25. Cut, trim, edge blow. 555-555-5555 No contact payment by eTransfer"

This works very well, and will generate a small side income, get you outside of the house, fresh air and exercise.

From here, it's just letting you imagination run wild... Hire and train some young adults, grow from a single person to multi person team, etc.
