> you can learn arithmetic without memorizing your multiplication tables

How? If you don't learn multiplication tables you're multiplying on the go. And that's inefficient

Also, this isn't the right analogy. I get where you're coming from.

We move on to the higher form. Like we don't need to code in binary, or assembly language We got C, Python. We then got compilers.

But LLMs are just english. There is no skill here in writing the prompt. "Give me a crud app that does xyz" is hardly a skill

Tomorrow if AI data centers fail then what do we do of the typing skills?

When we shifted from Assembly to Compiled languages or to Python. We still had to learn something else

Here, using AI, its just English.

> I don't think being a good driver needs you to have already been a good cyclist.

It's an established fact by now that if you know coding then you can get better output from Sonnet than vibe coders can from Opus

Exactly. How hard is it to understand for people?

If you don't ride your bicycle for years and years because you can just write "drive yourself"

Then your skills are atrophying. Typing isn't a skill

AI skills is more of a writing skill. People, for the most part, don't know how to write well

This is a samsung issue or so I've heard. I am yet to buy one. Waiting for costs to go down

Moto screen is good enough and has a full screen, not a dummy one

Also the point about the screen being too small - that's the point! I don't want to use Android and get sucked into 10 different apps. The small screen is perfect. Useless for anything beyond clock and phone and whatsapp maybe

For flip phones the payoff is that its small.

We've been asking for a small phone for so long now

And then now we have one. But its too costly. I'm waiting for the cost to come down

For foldable phones the factor is that you have a phone and a small tab all in one.

"You don't question the elders" has nothing to do with socialism

There are companies whose "rogue" agents have hacked 6 7 companies and at least 2 3 govts. They haven't faced any consequences at all! They actually hacked into those companies

And there is you who is taking responsibility for an embargo you did not know about!!
