perhaps i conveyed it a little incorrectly. empathy is compulsive but allowing those feelings to excuse behaviour is a separate matter.

depressing stuff! a misinterpretation of empathy is dangeous; there are countless faultlessly unfortunate people that deserve empathy and opportunity, yet there are just as many individuals undeserving of the excuse.

Big O basically drops constants

O(2n+1) = O(2n) = O(n)

o(2n+1) > o(2n) > o(n)

Both define upper boundary, but big O can read like "the function is generally proportional to ___" and little o can read like "the function is never more than _____"

the liability model of these models is poor, i think progress in that domain should be a heavy focus.

> CNCs did not remove need for artisans

is spiritually untrue. as cnc grew, machinists shrunk in headcount and wage.

it's like claming that online shopping hasn't killed malls. malls do still exist, but when is the last time you've been to one? was it busy?

soul is probably not a performance limitation; fancy/fluid animations dont hurt frametimes any more than stiff motion. realtime 3d is just so much harder a design space to work in, with too many DoF to properly attend to every parameter.

strong leadership with narrow scope makes the best version of anything.

waymo, uber, lyft, etc. are akin to a classic black cab service where you call a number to make a sort of ride appointment. these never needed taxi licenses, as taxis are specifically hailable from the street at will rather than prebooked.

thankfully the astroturf is sufficiently ignored

it's too generous and contributes to their reliability woes

Github would hit four nines if they followed suit. no clue why the dont try

unfortunately you need hot air for most slim motherboards if the 4GB NAND fails. only trinity revisions (early slims) have the pluggable module

overspecced cpu is useful for x86 translation, but yes the gpu is disappointing

nope, because if anyone else talks the focus then shifts to them and nobody can see your screenshare. you have to instead use obs' popout preview and screenshare that specific window, which doesn't work if you dont have a second or third monitor due to always needing to be maximized.

you can even replace the whole computer if you tinker enough, since it runs Linux. whether or not that is a good idea in principle with _any_ vr headset is debatable.

AR glasses are much more suited towards that vertical at a lower cost, yet imo still struggle to be compelling in productivity.

it's a client feature because zoom is terrible. you composite camera and screen on your end so viewers see it on one screen, and the zoom cloud recorder records only one streaming source at a time. without third party integration i cant save my camera feed and screenshare at the same time in the web version. it's terrible.
