What?

Even if the trial was annulled due to procedural fraud (which it wasn’t), it doesn’t take away his corruption and what his group did to the country.

One can argue that there have been numerous procedural frauds in Bolsonaro's trial - but of course if it’s the other side you don’t care ;)

It’s funny because most people on the right will say Meta is helping the left lol

What a bunch of crying babies. Plus, my entire feed is full of pro-Lula garbage

Either most of my friends are pro-Lula (they are not) or Meta is helping them, not Bolsonaro.

This is an excuse for them to challenge the election if they (hopefully) lose.

For my other Brazilian friends over here: to me both sides are terrible but Lula is the convicted felon that spent 2 years in prison, and he ruled the country since 2003 and the place gets worse by the day.

Really cool and stuff. My question is: who comes up with these ridiculous names? Argon? What? Luna, Sol, what??

You are referring to ICE as a criminal terror gang, but they perform a very important function of enforcing immigration law. Anyone who comes illegally to our country is committing a crime.

I don’t agree with some things that they do, but what is the alternative? Just let people enter freely and not do anything about it?

ICE only exists because of mass illegal immigration.

How about encouraging people to not go to other countries illegally?

What amazes me the most is that we even need to write such instructions.

For people that work at OpenAI / Anthropic: why make the LLM like that? Nobody thinks the robot is a friendly person or coworker, that’s the dumbest thing. Giving names to agents? Geez. Just stop, make these things objective and concise and cut all the crap.

Stanford would be interesting as well. Applications for the next cycle open in mid-September I believe.

The company I work for will pay around $10K per year, so UT Austin or GT would be fully covered, but I would have to fork some money for JHU.

Still weighing my options - and waiting for UT Austin decision.

I got in 2020, during COVID. But before that I was already working at a large financial services and tech company.

I absolutely agree with this, and it is my main motivation TBH. I know I’m capable of learning almost anything in my field by hands on experience, but having the advanced degree from a strong institution will help on the rat race. At the end of the day I’m competing with equally capable peers that have a degree from a good school.

My move to America was not related to my work :D I got married here and that made things a lot easier. I was fortunate enough to not have the visa barrier.

I agree that most jobs don’t require a degree if one has experience, but one ends up limiting themselves on the kinds of opportunities they can get abroad (if that is something the person is interested in).

I have a similar trajectory. I attended two very competitive military schools in Brazil but never finished and moved to America.

Today I’m a senior software engineer at a FAANG company. The lack of diploma has never been a barrier and I progressed very quickly in the company from junior to senior (4 years).

But this has always been a perceived pain point and limiter for me so I decided to get a CS degree during COVID online from a college from Brazil. Just finished last week :)

I do look for a stronger school name on my resume and got accepted at Johns Hopkins Masters in AI (online). Anyone had any experience with that program? Thoughts?
