As an Emacs user I'm mostly "afraid" of VSCode getting so popular that people will make cool tools targeting VSCode only. Like, it'll become the Chrome of text editors.

I can totally recommend vega and vega-lite. It's just json and web based so it pretty language independent. There's no difference between just messing around with data sciency stuff in a repl or making a graph for your website, it's all the same.

I'd like one too if available, same username at aol. Are they actually giving out any nowadays?

I try to maximize possibility for triangulation. Try to be fairly consistent thematically and read many similar takes on the same thing. Once you internalize enough of a given area it becomes easy to tie new information into existing mental models. If you venture into completely new waters you have to go at it really hard or it'll fade sooner or later. I know that it doesn't help much for those of us that would like to be an expert on everything. But perhaps that's the big lesson.
