Short answer is that guns are in the constitution, but radios are not.

Longer answer would be that there are already systems in place to prevent transfers of firearms to and from parties that should not possess them in the US. Purchasing a gun at a sporting goods store involves filling out paperwork that can take a long time.

Buying a ham radio is as simple as going to a store that sells them and giving your call sign.

You could (depending on where you live) shoot off a gun in your backyard as long as it doesn't disrupt your neighbors. You can't key up a radio in your backyard on an band you don't have a license for without potentially disrupting someone in some other part of the world.

Chinese HTs and Baogengs specifically are not illegal in the US. Every ham I know owns at least one

this feels like it was written by someone who has been out of the dating scene for a while now

dating apps suck, your UI/UX can groundbreaking but that doesn't make them any less awful to use

This "AI is inevitable" mood that people are in always seem to come from people who don't have to use the things AI is supposedly going to replace, and never consider what the actual consequences of that might be

I live in a city and I still feel like my best bet to meet someone is on the apps because they have taken out a lot of the old ways that people used to meet. How do you even approach a potential date? IDK and it sucks.

Nick Hitchon was a professor of mine in college. He seemed like a genuinely very nice guy and took the time to learn everyone's name, despite how large the classes were.

that is what bsky and other twitter-like platforms purport to be

how well they hold up under stress of bad actors/govts remains to be seen

> Nearby Grand Chute canceled its Flock deal in early June, switching to a competing product from Axon. Grand Chute Police Chief David Maas told Fox 11 News that the Axon system “benefits the community in multiple ways and also respects resident privacy in a way that feels more comfortable, quite honestly.”

They're just trading one problem for another

> Look, I get it. It’s Q3 2026, and we should expect that everyone is utilizing AI at SOME point in their process (sourcing ideas, creating outlines, refining prose, etc.)

How do people not realize how up their own @$$ they sound when they say things like this
