One could argue that if you hate these megacorps then the best thing you can do (as an engineer)is to work for them and purposefully be a monkey wrench in the cogs. Be competent enough to not get fired, maximize the company resources you take up while minimizing your output. Delay delay delay and if you're really good at it, never deliver. Take as much of their time and money as possible and give as little back. Thats basically what they're doing to the rest of us. And when its gets too evil you can always leave. In the meantime you are taking up headcount that could have actually advanced their goals further, faster, evil-er.

Not shilling for them but Ollama cloud hosts domestically with ZDR afaik. I run 95% of my open weight inference through them. The rest goes through Opencode Go $10 plan (which is enough to run 3 hermes agents on DSF 4.1 and leave plenty of left to experiment with when new models drop).

Great, now instead of doing math to split my check I can vibe code an app on the spot to do math to split my check.

I think that LLMs will be just another tool like linters or build tools. Enterprise and tech startups will still need custom solutions and people accountable for keeping them afloat. However the guy who got by making small business websites from templates will probably have a hard time. Between squarespace, shopify, and LLMs there just isn't a reason to pay more than a few bucks for a website for your business.

Is this even in CBP's wheelhouse or is this another egregious overreach?
