The reason why they can make Android close source but not the kernel used is because the former is has ASF 2.0 while the later has GPL license.

This is why they are developing their own kernel.

I'm assuming you use Lynx now then? Because I don't think you would be using Chrome or its clone if that's where you draw the line?

Maybe I'm not enough of an Apple fanboy but using work provided mac with firefox for 15 years I never noticed UI being disjointed from the system any more than Chrome.

I despise that too. One website (was it walmart?) gives me option to use that or a password, I select password and after entering it it tells me that it needs to verify my e-mail "for security" where I get link or code to log in.

At that point what's the point of password? Just an optional extra step?

Honestly I think it already is.

A lot of people who talk about massive gains seem to forget about code review.

Then in a company someone who has to review is is f*cked because that code is much more complex and takes much longer to review.

> This is really fascinating. As someone who reads a lot of history and historical fiction I think this is really intriguing. Imagine having a conversation with someone genuinely from the period, where they don’t know the “end of the story”.

Having the facts from the era is one thing, to make conclusions about things it doesn't know would require intelligence.

The term free speech is misleading. It is really freedom of speech. I.e. someone who says something doesn't have to be afraid of prosecution because of what they said.

It isn't the speech that is being protected it is the person who says it.

Using the term "free speech" creates those weird scenarios where now we have someone argue that the US Constitution mandates ads to be everywhere.

I didn't have ADHD (or at least not diagnosed with it), but I tried to use Internet without adblocker and is unusable.

I suspect owners of those sites either don't visit them or use ad blocker themselves.

The way things work is that if the judge oversteps you appeal, but you are still bound by the ruling unless higher court overrides it.

You can't just say you don't like the ruling and ignore it.
