The organization I work for uses GPT and Claude models hosted in EU. I don't see any practical reason to use models made in Europe. Even if you don't want to work with American big tech there are plenty of companies in the EU serving Chinese open-weight models.

It's really not an option in Javaland.

Available on Gog. Works fine on modern hardware last time I tried.

Most likely those models would be extracted from the hardware in no time.

Random infinite loading in Explorer has been there for years at least.

It's 2nm, so it has to be manufactured by TSMC.

Frankly, I only skimmed it. Now I see that "On Copilot+ PCs, image generation is local but prompt moderation remains remote".

I don't have a Copilot PC, but if you still need to pay MS to run the model on your own hardware it's laughable.

I don't think they use a model that would run smoothly on most hardware that normal people use.

Besides, you need to sign-in and pay to use that feature. It's very obvious that's not local.

My opinion about Trump is as bad as the next guy's, but we still have better relation with the USA than with China. And it's not like we have much choice.

I'm only aware of some software backdoors in Chinese devices, but times when you could've reverse engineered a chip with microscope are long gone. If there are any it would be really difficult to find them.

MediaTek is a Taiwanese company. Xiaomi could put any backdoor that the government tell them to install and TSMC won't be able to catch that.

I always thought it's the web search tool.

Grok actually shows a number of sources used for an answer. Once I asked it something simple and it apparently scanned 200 different websites. And it was just a short prompt. Now imagine millions of users asking for something multiple times a day.
