>Finally, JavaScript handles the modern web well, but it isn't perfect. If a request does something that is especially CPU-heavy, every single user of your application will be waiting.

One thing you might want to take into account is that ES2015 generators allow you to write long, blocking functions as generators that partially compute the result before deferring further computation to somewhere further along in the message queue. This allows you to spread out blocking computations so that you can still serve requests.

Several times, I have accidentally left prohibited items in my bag. I was only stopped once, and that was in the Cleveland airport where they proudly display every interesting weapon they have confiscated on the wall next to the checkpoint. They stole an expensive knife from me after a short interrogation (I guess to determine the degree of intent) and let me through the checkpoint. I think Peter Thiel had a bit about the TSA where he explained it as "security theater" that makes people feel safe, while any sophisticated actor could easily get through the checkpoints. I have to agree given my own experience with forgetting that lighters and knives are in my bag

Fitbit is now the underdog. I'm excited to see where this ends up now that the market is willing to give them cash to fight Apple, Google, and Microsoft

We aren't rich by any means... Don't start thinking about dropping off the face of the earth or going into philanthropy if you still only have a 6 figure bank account, like many of us do... Also don't forget about what happened in 2000. Engineers should probably work more but spend less money because things aren't so easy in less favorable conditions

I guess you're right, it adds choice, but softly discourages you from seeing an outside therapist. Why not just see the company therapist? There is also some moral hazard involved.

Dude this is pretty heavy for Hacker News. I hope nobody can recover this guy's identity

My first instinct is to hate on this idea because it removes choice. But sometimes, even when given a choice, people don't help themselves. The ethical integrity of the therapist would have to be very strong though.
