> Are we at a point where former presidents are immune to prosecution for actual crimes?

Name the last time a president was prosecuted and you'll have your answer. Trumps lawsuit over presidential acts just forced into the open what was before a gentlemen's agreement about presidential power. Outside of office, I don't think any of the former presidents had a huge drive to commit anything above financial crimes and using their status.

Biden I can not think of anything scaling beyond putting his ego over country when he went for a second term. He clashed with the legal system but challenges in court is typical for the role. And even in that, he choose to comply (example loan repayment) over Trump who rushes to complete his goal before legal can step in (golf course, ballroom, etc).

We already live in a future where trying to get a job offline, not using cell phones, or doing business outside approved tech giants makes you a hermit in all but name.

Mandatory AI for society participation is just the next step.

So all this time the China Social Credit Score meme was just a prophecy for the US.

We saw in the US early 1900s how that worked out. You literally had homes burning down because people didn't pay into the right fire fighter service to put out their homes. And how do you handle medical services like 911? Should we just leave the poor to die? How do you deal with people who don't believe they need X service and then they suddenly need it?

Libertarianism sounds great on paper and always falls apart in reality the moment a community grows in size and the individual can't match the good provided by the collective.

Tax the rich to solve all problems only works for so long. Eventually everyone has to be hit with the tax stick to support pensions, healthcare, a drive for a more US independent military, etc.

These companies are taking millions of dollars, sucking in experts everywhere they can, and that is before they even hit the stock market.

I don't think it is too much to ask that they devote their resources to creating an air gaped campus for testing. If they need to build an entire data center campus with copies of the pilfered data they used to train the damn things, then so be it. HF and other incidents have proven that trying to block models off by software networking is a dangerous game when they can just exploit some unknown flaw in a library nobody knew about for over 40 years.
