> They dont write themselves, it takes significant effort to make a high quality paper even with the help of AI.

You must have been living under a rock. There are plenty of cases where the "author" has succumbed to the temptation of not having to make an effort, which has shown up as prompts left in papers. Some of them shifted their efforts towards hidden AI prompts to fool the LLMs used for "peer" review.

Although I generally agree with this, we software developers are rapidly losing our power to make such demands, thanks to AI. But I wish you all the best.

I want to hear directly from the finest minds humanity has to offer. When I want something from AI, I'll ask AI myself. In short, I want to know when something is human-authored vs. AI-authored. It really matters to me and I suspect to others too.

The 100% exam weighting certainly makes sense for mathematics, but exam proctoring will have to keep up with technology.

It's disappointing to see this is only for iPhone. Hopefully this is the first step towards having the right to deploy what we want on iPad, TV, Watch, and Vision Pro, and without requiring special enterprise entitlements to unlock access to certain features, which should be driven by user consent instead of Apple consent.

Their AirTag Magnetic Mount is arguably just as "dangerous". It can be mounted to the underside of a car in one second and no one inside the car will hear it.

It's silly to not have rewritten it out of git history.

> I've yet to voluntarily enable passkeys, for the main reason that I want portability, and not to be tied to any single device that can be lost.

For any given Passkey-enabled service you use, you can have multiple Passkeys - ideally one per device, and it doesn't prevent you from also authenticating with another method, such as username and password.

It depends on why the tutor is hired. If the student is easily distracted, the presence of a human tutor will prevent them doom-scrolling brainrot videos, whereas an AI tutor won't have that effect on them. I have an ASD level 2 son approaching year 11 and this is why I'll be hiring a human tutor next year.

Its lighter form factor is more evolutionary than revolutionary. The AVP has some unnecessary extras such as the outward-facing display. If Apple wanted, it could make an Apple Vision Air with the latest A-series chip, a much lighter form factor and a much lower price - just like Meta VR Glasses.

I was referring to Ubuntu's Snap.

It's essentially a cheaper and lighter AVP without the Apple ecosystem. There's nothing revolutionary about this device.

Every time a major tech company comes out with a new headset, I check one thing: Does it have a light field display? (In this case, no it doesn't.) In 5-10 years, headsets are going to be much better. Your eyes will be able to focus on objects like they do in real space and you won't have to deal with the hassle of an external battery.

Linux distros would never do something as egregious as, let's say, unturnoffable app updates, would they?

We're probably seeing only the cherry-picked results.
