Basically a Canadian company will most likely sue the Romanian government for refusing to allow an open pit gold mine. They won't do this in a Romanian court.
Just like we saw with Greece, sovereign nations are no longer all that sovereign. Treaties like TPP, and TTIP will further remove decision making capabilities from sovereign states. It's kinda crazy.
I'm not an expert in this field by any measure. However, this assumption goes against everything I've read from people who are experts.
I spend a fair amount of time in Portland and it's incredibly similar to most American cities. All this exceptionalist serves only to stroke egos and generate clicks.
US immigration might be broken in different ways than some other countries, but from the many stories I've heard of friends moving all over the world, they all pretty much suck.

The concepts that I would categorize as the von Neumann architecture are incredibly basic. Equating his plan for computer design with a difference between storing program/data vs. just program misses the mark. Von Neumann wasn't at all concerned with this difference.
Take this quote from "The Computer and the Brain": "Large digital machines are made up of 'active' organs and of organs serving memory functions-I will include among the latter the 'input' and 'output' organs.."
You can see how basic his thinking is by today's standards, and why Dijkstra later criticized him, and other American computer scientists for anthropomorphizing machines. He talks about 'an organ serving a memory function', he doesn't even talk about main memory because that word isn't in use yet.
You're interpreting von Neumann from a modern context. You don't understand just how basic and fundamental his ideas were.
Given that, I feel little need to read up on it, or learn about how it might be terrible. Until I can read it, I don't want to hear speculation about what might be in it.
