I personally think they still exist somewhere. Someone who was my only family died suddenly last year and it was the worst thing I could imagine happening. I still feel like he communicates with me sometimes (probably an unpopular opinion on this techy forum). I think life is supposed to be brutal sometimes but there is always hope somehow even if there’s temporarily no hope in the human realm I try to have faith that there is hope if I could see everything from the divine view.

I just read your blog post and my heart is with you. Seriously. You are a strong soul. What else can be said. Nothing will make it better. We are here to suffer, for an unknown purpose. Only faith in the divine gives me hope in those moments. And I hope that one day life will make more sense

This is either a troll or a shockingly naive understanding of how scarce resources are allocated

my way of working is make sure I understand every bit of it. Something is still lost but I feel confident my ability to understand systems is not atrophied at all. And its actually improving because I can crunch through new systems rapidly and have a private tutor. Of course its best supplemented by human team members who actually know whats going on. Its not a panacea. But its incredibly useful

I think its that theres a way to use them really well and a way to use them not well and it comes out as a wash in the study if you dont stratify it. Im sorry, call it anecdotal if you want, I dont really care - I know what its doing for me on a day to day basis.

Yeah theyre amazing at debugging.

As long as you make sure you genuinely understand everything that comes out of it, and your domain has enough coverage in the LLM training data/context, its an incredible tool.

idk. I get more stuff done, faster, that I wouldn’t have been able to. You have to use it judiciously and with supervision - I can see how letting it get out of control would negate the benefits. But with good use, its undeniable.

If you don’t understand the difference between existing in proximity and being disruptive then you are inconsiderate

Why is that rude? Youre just expressing yourself. Im responsible for my reaction. Right?

is there anything, in your view, which would make someones behavior objectively rude?

Kissing != making noise. Maybe you need to consider paying more attention to how your actions affect others in public spaces

I could be clearer. I’m saying that the fact that OP even noticed and was annoyed by it is evidence that facetime man is at fault, unless OP identifies as someone with a population-unusual hypersensitivity (eg autism, PTSD), which they didn’t.

People should err on the side of minimizing disruption in quiet public spaces.

The blog says they were talking louder than everyone else in the room. Inconsiderate people always think others should just chill out

If you act like an inconsiderate asshole 50% of the time, then you’re an inconsiderate asshole, even if you follow basic social politeness the other 50% of the time. Seems like an overreaction to call holding the door open “very very nice.” Letting the door close in your face would have made him look obviously like an asshole in front of his friend.
