Workstations routinely accommodate much more than that. The "under $1K" price referred to a 768gb build (12x 64gb sticks on a Skylake based system), you could also do a dual-socket version with twice that, at the cost of messing with NUMA (which could be a pro or a con for throughput depending on how you're spreading bandwidth between nodes).

It is not "slow and expensive", although it could be "or". You can get 3 tokens / second running on DDR4 memory on a two generation old workstation system that costs ~1K, via llama.cpp .

The only thing he is actually charged with is possession of a short barreled rifle. The prosecutor's documents do not even have photographs of the portion of the firearm that would establish whether it was configured as a "rifle" - it is perfectly legal under federal law to possess an AR style pistol with a naked buffer tube or a pistol brace, without a tax stamp.

In the one photograph they do have of this firearm, they intentionally crop it so that it is not possible to evaluate.

You might be surprised to discover that federal judges are extremely not shy about bringing up threats to their safety that involve litigants before them.

The piece itself mostly discusses Nvidia, which is an interesting company from an "AI hype" perspective in that they can only physically produce so many chips, and they are riding a very thin line where their margins are very high and FLOPS (or the equivalent) are in many ways already a commodity, so everyone wants to be set up to compete with them at the first misstep.

It's quite possible that the causality goes the other direction, and a baseline population of brain disorders is being ascribed to the last notable thing that happened to them (which has also happened to ~ the entire population at this point).

Most of the indica of "North Korean workers" are also correlates of protected hiring characteristics ("names that didn’t match their ethnicity"). If the United States federal government has a reason to dislike your company, they will use your efforts to suggest illegal hiring discrimination, as they did when they attacked SpaceX for not recruiting "refugees" to work on export-controlled dual use rocket tech.

Noncompetes are terrible and should be banned as a matter of public policy. But it's a legal atrocity that the FTC gets to, by fiat, throw out massive numbers of existing contracts, because they woke up one day and decided they are suddenly "unfair competition" (mind you, not lack of competition). They could just as easily decide that companies "compete unfairly" by making employees better offers - and in fact did exactly this during the FDR administration!
