That's still completely separate. It's bog standard PE, not VC.

Investment banks are always involved in the IPO. That's not going to get Wonder into the Russell 1000 or anything like that.

> Which in some cases means the general public via IPO.

You're talking more about VC tech firms.

These distressed PE targets loaded with debt are often sold to another private buyer, or if they are taken public (sometimes not for the first time) they are much too small or have too bad of financials to be in the indexes that regular people are buying.

In America the next administration hides them for you because they will never set the precedent of punishing a president for exceeding their power.

Obama could have had Bush against the wall at the Hague for his war crimes... and then Trump could have had Obama against the wall at the Hague for his war crimes... and then Biden could have had Trump... and on and one we go.

True but for example in California we have it extra bad where it takes weeks for votes to get counted. Even the most idealistic person with respect to how people should process election results must admit that it taking this long either:

a) Undermines trust or

b) Creates a more fertile ground to undermine trust

This was hard enough to enforce when it was just people writing code, and once one of those stupid incrementing integer IDs go in a public API or important codepath, it can be a real pain to rip out.

They all got trained on the same books and internet cesspools, this is not some great mystery of consciousness.

Whereas functioning CI is just arbitrary shell scripts with glue and tape as a service.

It's been a lot worse recently but the increase in instability is fairly well correlated with how long it's been owned by Microsoft.

People have been on here complaining about GitHub being unstable for years and years

When it's broken is the only time it might not be an active security threat

Gotta be able to stop fraudulent payments while maintaining privacy before ecommerce would have any interest in adopting a more private system.

I've worked at plenty of companies that have no interest in tracking their customers but still need to be able to pin IDs to credit cards, etc. to have any hope of stopping mountains of fraud.

Honestly one of the coolest things you can do for this sort of problem offer a version of the Talos Image Factory, where people can select the combination of plugins and the architecture and get a build.

There can be a lot of permutations to create of course but each one only needs to be built once per version you release.

To limit permutations you can always create pre-selected bundles of related plugins (like package groups on Linux distros) and let people select those bundles. They can always fall back to building it themselves if they really need to be picky about the plugin selection.

They also seem to really bias towards tacking on new code to "work around" what's there, rather than breaking down what's there into smaller more composable bits that can serve the pre-existing use case and the new requirement elegantly.

Wasn't their previous revenue increase more than twice as big?

That would very much not be great for Anthropic, they need to be accelerating growth to keep valuation, doubly so as interest rates on corporate bonds continue to rise.

The British press really never misses a chance to do the wrong thing huh.

Agreed and everyone’s talking about Docker Compose while I’m putting everything in k8s.
