The only reason a human will not give you a nonsense bridge is that a human is running a 2.5kWh spacial physics calculation engine in his/her head.

Replace 3.js with an engine that embeds physics, ask it to do test fly-through through each city and fix inconsistencies and let's then compare the results.

So there is more awareness of the problem, gambling ads are required to publish a helpline number. Most of the gamers have other psychological disorders. Thus it's awareness + more consistent asking for help + regular naming of gambling among other problems.

What is the number of non-gamblers that started gambling and ended up in ER and would not have eneded up in ER if gambling wasn't available?

How about a model that achieves the following:

- Escape sandbox

- Reproduce itself

- Find a way to run a financially profitable business (maybe with a meat and bones puppet somewhere in-between)

- Setup or buy a social network

- start manipulating public opinion on that network to support legislation allowing AI to

* operate businesses

* setup legal entities

* purchase weapons

* donate to political parties

* setup private armies

* you get the idea

Also, when you travel or even commute using public transport, you don't always want to carry two laptops around.

It works in all cases except the important ones, where you expect that your request will be denied upfront and you have to present all the compelling arguments for your request along with the risks of not honoring your request, before you go to formulating what you need as the lesser evil of all the unpleasant alternatives.

Because there are places, where it's safe and reasonable to remain without a permanent home for an extended period of time. Warmer areas of Australia come to mind, or Dominic van Allen (https://www.theguardian.com/society/audio/2023/sep/20/from-t...) from the UK.

It's a very fine line, between authoritarianism and the freedom of someone (whatever their mental state/ability is) to chose to not have a permanent place to live, while going through a difficult or promising phase of life. See also "The Pursuit of Happyness"

Funny: hackernews always moans about the loss of privacy, but this thread is all about making ID checks mandatory for all events.

The story of Poland is also a story of migration.

A significant percentage of the polish population participated in what is labled today economic migration.

They went Germany, Ireland, UK experienced an influx of migrants taking up all the low pay jobs.

But that was before the Russian bots took over the news on the internet and Russia-sponsored extreme right parties entered the parliaments. So the political effect from the migrants was roughly equivalent to their impact on pop

> I can't think of a single example where foreign inteference (or war) has had the citizenry welcome foreign powers as liberators or otherwise increased freedoms or conditions in a country for those citizens.

Think of:

West Germany, Japan, South Korea, Kuwait, Baltic States, Balkans

You're wrong.

It's just that the problem is not the trading or betting side, the problem is the information producing side.

E.g. imagine he placed a bet that Maduro would get shot in is left eye and die.

Same goes for the congress. Them making money is by far a smaller issue compared to the havoc they can cause trying to make a few bucks on their crazy bets.

As with smoking, alcohol, sex, drugs etc

Children who are smart enough to get access to a given vice without getting caught are more likely to be mature enough to be able to cope with that vice.

I challenge you to find two objects of a similar size and cut them into shapes that would produce a sharper sound for the rounder object.

In your example it's obviously the round tree trunk that produces the dull sound.
