Same. I don't know if it's the word choices or just me recognizing it as AI and subconsciously feeling cheated.

As an aside, my city FB group(small town, basically the local forum and news) has been absolutely flooded with AI 'flyers', and I have the same reaction. I can't put my finger on the exact reason, maybe the busy-ness, but they're repelling to my eyes.

Luckily after about 6 months of this now they're starting to get heavy pushback.

This is what I was wondering, if they have some internal math that says "15% will probably take this offer" targeting a lower number like 10k. And if they overshoot, it's not like they'll have trouble refilling positions in this economy...

> You hold my money” should be enough of a reason to do all in their power to build great web apps

Tell that to Vanguard or Fidelity. Two of the largest 'money holders' in existence, and probably the two worst financial apps I can think of.

I have to imagine that the 3 bit numbers were slots/indexes on the HSM, and rather than actually retrieving the key(or maybe it did), the slot number got used as the key. I can't otherwise imagine how they'd generate such low number keys...

This has to do more with price of house, not HOAs. In Florida for example, some(maybe most?) counties require all new developments to maintain their own roads, which requires something akin to a CDD/HOA. Newer houses typically cost more and bring in people with money, not someone who inherited the house or has been living there for generations.

I could show you HOA neighborhoods that look like a warzone, and beautiful nonHOA areas of million dollar houses.

Perhaps selfishly as I'm not much a gambler, I hate it because it ruined sports. You have a barrage of ads and odds that plague every game at every turn. You have a handful of players already caught betting on their own games, which means there are many more who just haven't been caught yet. And now, every single bad call leads fans to "refs must have money on this game", and to be honest, who knows if they do.

This is something straight out of Rocket League. Completely impractical, but awesome at the same time.

Once I was interested in writing SCP(not sftp) on my own. Good luck finding the spec. I happened upon a random Oracle doc that got me 90% of the way there, and even that felt like a rare treasure.

It's my favorite of the new round of languages by far. I just wish it had a bigger ecosystem.

That's what big tech wanted, looks like they succeeded. Hard to shove targeted ads into the eyeballs of people socializing with one another.

I'd say it failed in that it became an echo chamber - there isn't real public to shape. It would have probably been more effective if done a bit more subtly, which makes it scary to realize that 'effective' propaganda looks like open discourse to the average user.

I've always wished Translate would have a 'literal' mode, which I find far more helpful to learn roots and such.

Just an example, consider Ausland and it's various suffixes to mean abroad, foreign, etc. Which are fair translations. But it's more helpful to me if it were translated more literally to something like "out (of) country", as it helps understand the parts of the word rather than the whole.
