That's an interesting perspective. Indeed human creativity is often a process of reinterpretation, reinvention, and renewal. We've seen sprial-like patterns of similar ideas thoughout history, especially in the arts, intellectual trends, and lifestyles(but maybe not tech). Hopefully, LLMs can help human accelerate these processes in ways that benefit us

I agree. The vast amount of data ingested and internalized by LLMs has effectively been "laundered". But they are so powerful and evolving so fast that no one can be spared of their impact. We have to to learn to live with it. Traditional proprietary software being "laundered" is just one part of the broader story...

That is indeed a good way to pick up new tricks with AI! But I'm afraid a lot of us will just end up mindlessly pressing "Approve". I doubt people will have the energy to pause and look at the reasoning behind each output when they're overwhelmed by the sheer volume and speed of AI output. And more fundamentally, I know it can be fun to learn new tricks, but I agree with phforms that if you don’t use them often enough, the novelty wears off quickly. And with AI taking over more of the work that used to help us learn by doing, we may end up with even fewer chances to actually internalize those skills.

In a hierarchical organization, solving real problems almost always means “doing everyone else’s job,” so the author is right if your goal is to succeed inside organizations.

That said, I’d add one more point: in China, where I’m from, it is getting harder for individuals to even survive inside organizations these days, let alone succeed. In that environment, the rational strategy is often to do less, take fewer risks, and make fewer mistakes.
