Am I missing something? Plenty of restaurants have self serve policies.

That's just an excuse. There is early voting and most, if not all states, legally mandate that a company give time off to employees to go vote.

Hi,

Thanks for your response. I am not knocking on you or the product because it is a lucrative market (if done right). So, you are taking the risk on the houses? Do you guys rent out the house? What happens if it doesn't sell?

How is this any different from the countless companies that have been doing them for ages?

Make sure you learn to organize your time well. Do not get distracted. Make your environment as close to an office environment as possible. Take any breaks that you would normally take in an office environment. Also, keep great communication between you and your team. You can use slack/hipchat for communication.

It's been a while since they invested in UBeam. Any updates? I can't seem to find any.

How can they raise $40m and fail so quickly? How did they burn through that much cash? I hope they actually explain why they failed so others can learn from it.

I wonder what they need that much money for. Their product is pretty solid and I assume they are making a profit. Is it for marketing purpose?

Congrats. I checked out Algolia a while back, and its great to see such progress. I wonder if Algolia and Swiftype will merge because they both offer great products.

This is great news for the node community because a splinter would not have worked for any one. Hopefully, we can leave this behind us and continue to build great node apps.

They are both pretty great, and there are other companies such as linode and atlantic.net (disclaimer: i work for them) that might be good fit. AWS have a lot of services and features, but depends on what you are looking for. You can certainly run node.js, mongo, and rabbitmq with relative ease and cost on DO or anything. All the services I mentioned are pretty reliable so you don't need to worry about it. You can also use AWS for certain things, and others for your primary hosting. Anyways, good luck! Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions regarding migration since we do it all the time.
