There's never been a more confusing time to buy a MacBook. I understand there are technical variations, but it's difficult to compare when different screen sizes require different chip generations. Different memory amounts require different processor types. Etc. Etc.

I probably complained when Apple offered too FEW options too - but hey, this is the Internet.

Stay strong! I went from an M1 to M5 generation, and it was a nice bump, but I could have gone another year without any significant impact on my quality of life/work.

Now that a robot can speak over people on Zoom calls for me, I’m finally free to write poems all day!

That promo video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dxvrvfyicp0) made me feel even older than I actually am.

I was out after the slurping sound in the first 1-second.

Yes!

The closest thing I could find to a "normal car but electric" was the Hyundai Kona EV (I know, it's more small-SUV than 'car). So, I bought one.

It's good. There are physical controls for the temperature and volume, and the door handles aren't stupid.

I walked away from a Ford Mach-E because I didn't want to have to explain how to open the doors to ever person I drove for the next five years.

I came to these comments for a link to the high jump video. It did not disappoint.

Now do the pole vault!

Forgive my quoting my own blog post:

Writing is a shadow of thought. The better the writing, the more clearly the shadow represents the shape of the original thought. Even the best writing can never perfectly capture the original thought. Writing is one of the best tools we have to share thoughts across space and time.

I didn't even click on the link. I just came to give the author a hat-tip on the project name. Well played.

I might print out this quote and put it on my wall! :-)

"Looks like its coded by someone who has never split firewood. "

One of these days I'm going to see an article here about how the sex worker characters in GTA 6 have unionized.

Nice. Did you use AI? (I'm being half-sarcastic, and half wanting to confirm that this is an accurate reproduction of the text in the original)

"When people see an artifact, they make assumptions about the process that was used to create it. Without even thinking about it, they assume the creator had a basically human state of mind. This assumption is no longer true."

I've been running into this experience with non-code artifacts, like slideshows and documents.
