Trying to silence someone (“You should have..not commented”) is pretty rude.

Seems like the same old story. Rude people defending other rude people so that they can collectively continue to justify their own rudeness. Usually with arguments that don’t stand up to scrutiny. And usually using a fresh account.

Totally agree. I found it insulting.

Thank you for this! I had no idea these roundtables existed. I wish that interviewer would stop interrupting though :s Apart from that this is gold!

I fondly remember getting so stuck in Day of the Tentacle or Grim Fandango not just for days but even giving up for weeks before coming back with fresh motivation! This is the sort of challenge that’s actually rewarding when you manage to solve it (unlike being held by the hand the entire game).

If you don’t care about hand-writing a readme, fine nobody is forcing you, but to lie about it is just sad.

Warning for those that care: LLM readme.

My question was rhetorical ;)

For a moment I thought you were saying ipinfo runs example.com.

Instead it just seems to be an advert for ipinfo on a post about example.com?

Personally (apparently like you) I didn’t have any desire to re-play the game, but boy was that first play-through enjoyable! They really did well in making you feel the intended vibe with the visuals, sound effects, bits of dialogue etc

Yeah but it seems to be a losing battle, sadly.

Low effort LLM-written content gets upvoted here anyway, despite the writer having little respect for peoples’ time.

Absolutely.

> My mistake was trying to combine .tar.gz files using cat. gzip plays ball, but tar throws a strop.

> gzip happily combines the compressed members into a single stream, but when tar tries to read the decompressed stream, it finds the first archive’s EOF marker and stops reading.

> gzip would be happy to carry on, but tar has given up.

There was no reason to say this three times consecutively. But when an AI wrote the blog post for you then this is the level of quality HN readers have to put up with.

In this case, the emdashes are just tip of the iceberg. The writing is so Claude that it’s painful to read (and in fact I stopped reading to save my mental health).

I also found it cool/fun and seems many others did too! But this thread isn’t about that.

LLM-driven PoC is common and normal these days (and I do it too). But praising the copy here is like praising stock photos.

> Less is more.

Yes, we should all just throw LLM-generated copy out there with minimal effort. Then receive your praise for the effort and care put in XD

The fact you’re still trying to defend an indefensible position suggests you must be trolling. Or at least, I _hope_ you’re trolling ;)
