Yeah, the people aspect is dead or dying. I was having fun over the past few months, putting some AI assisted things I'd always wanted into the world.

Nobody cares anymore, because literally everyone on the planet can literally make their own mini stacks of things, as another commenter just said.

It's sad, but I don't see any way to put the bunny back in the box.

This is why I’m building all my own stuff.

Very good point. I too feel that these tools have made creation far more accessible. I’ve always been a person who’s been strong at assembling existing pieces into something, but at the same time not great at making the pieces.

It’s liberating, as you say, but at the same time I feel guilt for building when I know I’m really standing on the shoulders of giants, maybe undeservedly.

Static site generators are super passe in 2026, but I spent the last couple of days on mine. https://get-taxus.org

Big re-factoring, I have a data model now and am closing functionality gaps with Zola and the like. Also, I wanted actual documentation. No one else seems to care about that.

Check it out! I'd appreciate someone other than me banging on it.

Le sigh.

The enshitification will be inevitable. Soon this wonderful resource will no longer exist.

Back to my own brain for my coding projects.

Is this really a shock?

The data they’re trained on is reflection of us.

Finally, after at least 5 years of trying, I've figured out a photo storage engine for myself, backed by a SQLite database and Cloudflare R2.

https://metallian-photos.fly.dev

It's an Actix Web/Tera/Datastar concoction, hosted on `fly.io`. It provides the backing for galleries for my music site: https://crusty-metallian.net

Now, if only I could actually write something for the blog part...

Signed up, will use it. Having trouble seeing how long this will actually exist though, because people are miserable and it WILL be ruined.

Fair.

I guess I'm of the wrong mindset that when trying to teach a language, it helps to do all the things in said language, because then you've got lots of fodder to write about and explain other people's code, pointing at your own use case as examples.

As I said, I'm clearly in the weird minority on this one and should have kept my damn trap shut. We are all free to make our own choices.

I suppose too I was coloured by my hatred of Hugo. :)

Why not some Rust in your website stack?

At least use Zola instead of Hugo…

I know I’m in the my, but I believe in using the language fully if you’re going to provide a learning resource for said langauge.

Where to begin? Too much to reply to here. Fundamentally, coding agents are just a loop. The devil is in the details.

I will eventually get something in my blog about this project.

Will do! I'll get it a bit more baked and then reach out.

I’m iterating on my own coding agent, called `rho`. https://github.com/crustyrustacean/rho-coding-agent.git.

It’s founded in Rust and incorporates a Deno runtime for extensions.

It’s headless now, via JSON-RPC. I’ve got the basics of a trait based system which will enable different frontends. At the moment, I’ve created an extension for `pi` which allows me to use that as the frontend.
