Check out Wiz too: https://github.com/wiz-lang/wiz

People have ported Atari 2600 games to it with the resulting ROM being byte-exact.

Befunge yeah, anything ASCII-art-adjacent would probably be tricky. Also Pyramid Scheme: https://esolangs.org/wiki/Pyramid_Scheme

I think the space hasn't been explored fully, after all spreadsheets are a very popular two-dimensional programming language

This goes for any medical expense, but also beware of the "Coordination of Benefits (COB) Questionnaire" required by your insurance company. They want to confirm your other coverage (e.g. Medicare) once a year, and sometimes the only way you know they are expecting it is when you get a call from your doctor's office that your claims are being silently denied. The insurance company won't send you an email, a call, or a ding in the portal, the language is buried at the bottom of a page of one of those PDFs you have to explicitly download.

I've had luck with just calling once a week or sending nastygrams asking why my claims are still denied, they usually say "oh that didn't go through I'll manually process that" and approve a few more each time. Incompetence vs maliciousness etc.

It'd be funny if Kirk just sent the gibberish and it worked and they could have skipped the time travel

Dialog is pretty fun, kind of like a lite Prolog. It compiles to Z-code or its own VM (Å-machine) which can run on C-64 and Apple II.

I recall the turning point was when id used the Watcom compiler for DOOM. Watcom had the 32-bit flat model DOS extender and were starting to add the difficult optimizations. Turbo/Borland Pascal was built for compile and link speed, not even getting a real -O option until Delphi (except for turning off range and stack checking)

I initially added the MOS 6502 support by hacking the HC08 backend. It was awful, someone else (Gabriele Gorla) cleaned it up and got it merged to the mainline. There are other options these days for optimized 6502, like llvm-mos or Oscar64.

$80/month that becomes $120/month and then $200/month within a year or two, and they mail you a postcard to tell you about it. I guess that's another nice perk of the business.

I wrote a conversational insult generator in AppleSoft BASIC, inspired by a program called "Abuse" that I saw advertised in a magazine, and of course by Eliza.
