Yea I had the same thought: "It sounds like the Stripe events API would fulfill his needs." But then you said

> Nobody serves this today. That’s the catch, and it’s also the point.

and I was left wondering what was missing.

Err does go far, right? Japan is pretty cheap in my experience.

Make having kids a zero-cost endeavor. If that doesn't do it, make it a profitable one. It's as simple as that.

It seems like a step in the right direction to combat scalpers.

I've wondered though... Why not have a non-transferrable ticket system? If you can't go then you return your tickets to the pool and if they sell you get your money back.

Many versions are made, the best ones get the most views. You don't need huge budgets and guaranteed revenue to make great art. In fact, I'd argue it's often the opposite. Most big budget movies suck these days.

And the atproto is pesetas right? You publish to bluesky or whatever and the content is replicated to your pds. I recognize the minor difference, but if you have the energy and wherewithal to orchestrate pesetas across silos, surely you can setup a pds elsewhere.

That's just not practical for most people (the publishing part). And in relation to microblogging, are you going to publish every 140-character, out-of-context thought on your personal website?

This is great news to me. I'm going to celebrate it. As evil as everyone thinks they are, they did the right thing here. Thanks google.

I think OP means "regardless of the CEO's political stance." And yes, your comment does sound self-righteous.

> each of which individually must be an improvement over the status quo

I agree. And looking at the average web user specifically, is "owning your own data" enough of a UX improvement? Maybe paired with less ads and products that optimize for the end-user rather than advertisers? I think... maybe. I hope so. It's going to take a lot of work done for little money, which is concerning, but I'm optimistic.
