XMonad! Also has nice hot-keys for moving focus.

How often would those cold-start switches be altered?

Just when they wanted to swap tape-reading hardware?

Or did different programs want slightly different loaders?

Agree 100%. I often tell expecting parents "All the hard stuff they tell you about; the sleep loss, the stress, the cost... All that stuff is true. But there's also all this amazing stuff they don't tell you about, which is also true."

Which is why they cleverly moved the central story of a software change from the commit to the PR. Commits migrate automatically with the repo. But migrating PR descriptions and comments takes engineering effort.

My goodness, the security layer looks like it could be more complex than the applications themselves.

And if this security agent is wandering around the IT system gathering all of these details about access and identity and business process, who watches the watcher? How does that thing build and maintain trust?

Not as such, but out of the box you get reword and fixup as first-class rebase macros. I use them all the time.

If you wanted to split a commit you'd still have to use a magit-assisted rebase.

So if magit added explicit 'history' support I just about wouldn't notice, it would mostly be under the hood.

I agree. It's amazing. I feel like I've got a private Emacs consultant at my elbow.

This is the way.

Folks focus on the impact simplicity has on the customer, but it's also worth noting the impact it has on the manufacturer. With a simple product they get a simple business.

- Simple warranty support - No deep bench of customer support staff - No complex financing - Straightforward sales process

Heck, even the website is bare bones.

I'm more curious about the other direction. How many times has a model replied to a request with "Are you sure?" I'd bet just about zero.

In my job I do it all the time; people ask for stuff and I often spend a lot of time on clarifying questions, the most fundamental of which is "Are you sure this is what you want?"

We had to pause the movie and explain to our kids who June Cleaver was.

It was a fun echo, because when I was a kid I watched it with my parents, and my Mom had to explain to me who Ethel Merman was.

Code filled with errors and warnings? PR's merged with failing CI?

So I guess they've achieved human parity then?

(I'll see myself out)
