I guess it depends on the invidual. Personally if I only had to do it once a week I would be fine with a 2 hour commute. Small price to pay for actually being able to own my own home.

Pigeons do the exact same though, I never slow down for them because I know they always fly out of the way just in time, even when it looks like you're about to roll over them.

I believe they're included as standard in the infotainment systems on modern aircraft. It's up to the airline if they decide to use it or not.

Most people already carry a Big Brother-esque device with a camera and microphone in their pockets everywhere they go.

Is the implication that most humans are comfortable with freefall?

How do you know their wealth came from the apps?

Ryanair make their own rules, other budget airlines have started to follow them now too. As a precaution I never fly without checking in online before reaching the airport.

Yeah, it's kind of concerning that an article about essentially black-hat behavior is earning so much praise in the comments. You have to remember that this kind of thing put a huge strain on Jagex when they had to (and still do) spend resources fighting against bots and gold sellers rather than development of the game. And in fact the difficulty of dealing with this problem led to the update which restricted free trade and did a great deal of damage to the game and the people who played it.

Bots get you banned in Runescape too, which is what the OP article is about. What's your point?

Fantastic set of posts, its good to see this system being rescued for future generations! The National Museum of Computing for which these gentlemen volunteer is a great place, when I visited it the passion of the volunteers there was really evident, and seeing the likes of the Colossus and WITCH in working order and being demonstrated really is amazing.

I think the pilot absolutely has to be ready to take over at any moment. I know that at least on general aviation aircraft the autopilot can automatically disconnect for any number of reasons, including various weather conditions. When that happens the pilot has to immediately resume hand-flying.

Probably because entering a "dangerous nose dive" is the correct way to avoid an impending stall, which is what MCAS is supposed to do.

I can't find a source right now but I remember reading that there had been a few cases where there had been an emergency situation and pilots had ignored stall warnings, resulting in the plane stalling and crashing. This was why Boeing had elected to make the system on the 737 Max 8 override the pilots inputs.

I think having an emergency system that overrides the pilot is fine, but it is crucial that the pilot can easily and quickly disable such a system when they know the plane is doing the wrong thing.

I use http://360radar.co.uk, which is a small site run by (I think) just one guy, but it has the best coverage hands down for the UK. It's used extensively by military aircraft enthusiasts in the UK as it'll usually show some stuff that isn't on adsbexchange, and provides some nice features such as aerodrome and weather layers in the UI.

You'll find it a lot in older literature, Dickens etc.
