It's incredible the minister didn't resign after the January crash and I doubt he will now either. I understand that perhaps the problem started in the control centre but surely at the end of the day the minister is responsible - they don't get paid a fortune just to pass the blame on to the workers.

It reduces risk though - solar power will be much less useful if battery tech doesn't continue to improve, and we can't be certain that it will.

They aren't mutually exclusive - we should have more of both.

The page doesn't load for me, but surely token consumption isn't a very good metric?

A poor model could require many more runs to solve a task, or much longer internal 'thinking' runs - all of which will increase token consumption but are a bad thing for the user.

Can you take that on an airplane?

I'd rather pay 40 cents per hour than have to pay really inflated prices for the games like Stadia had.

Ultimately, you end up paying for the usage somehow.

They should both go to prison. One for giving out unauthorised access of the resource and the other for exploiting it.

If the authorities want people to accept systems like Flock etc. then they need to severely punish abuse like this.

The vacation time is genuinely better, yeah.

The universal healthcare is hard to quantify - because most decent companies include health insurance in the US and the quality of the public healthcare provision in Europe can be quite patchy (i.e. location-dependent)

Remember that you are comparing gross salaries too, and taxes are much higher in Germany so the engineer ends up with much less take-home pay.

It would be. But it also feels like the "Can it run Crysis?" of robotics.

By the time we get robots capable of folding laundry, we'd already have solved many, many other use-cases.

Engineering salaries in the EU are far lower than in the US though.

They probably just used the Germans because they are cheaper.

I played it in 2001 (I remember when paid memberships first came out) and yeah, I could spend ages doing everything because I was a kid with no responsibilities aside from schoolwork.

Nowadays with a wife and kid of my own it'd just be impossible to spend that much time on it.

Yeah, I found the writing really hard to follow. And it was really difficult to visualise any scene due to how complicated it all was.

I was surprised it's recommended so much.

They could just make sentencing tougher and keep criminals in prison.

The strongest predictor (by far) for committing a crime is having a prior criminal record.

I find it odd that people don't complain about all the water these guys use, but apparently data centers are the Great Satan.

It seems like the astroturfing accounts are managed (perhaps by humans, perhaps by advanced AI) for quite a while before being used. So they won't look like new or 'thin' accounts and will have reasonable looking posts across different subreddits.

We are in the age of the replicant now.
