I think the problem is that the creators, and by extension the moderators were bought into the idea of a giant wiki of all programming knowledge. The vast majority of the users just wanted a Q&A site. This led to the infighting and lots of counter intuitive rules as the gamification part conflicted with the goals of being a wiki.

When they added review queues there were badges tied to closing questions. The queues made a lot of existing problems a lot more public and prominent.

There's not a sensor that can detect another train with enough warning to matter. Stopping takes miles, and turning isn't an option.

Valve has ignored the quality problem of submissions for years. Lazy asset flips of demo levels have been common for years. It's less of a hedge and more of a restatement of what their position has been since they opened the floodgates. AI just made the bad stuff look better than it used to, so people have to relearn how to filter.

It's not that hard, you can reword almost anything to make even a high performer look like a failure. Then you just let people go a handful at a time

It doesn't have to be mid career. A mix of people retiring early to hold office and younger people that start a career later in life after being elected would be amazing. Leveraging your elected experience to create a startup is also a good path.

Politics isn't supposed to be a career. It's supposed to be an act of service for a limited period.

What pisses me off is people criticizing anything discussing men's issues by bringing up that it's still worse for women.

Trucking is also one of the largest sources of employment in the country. It's quite literally the backbone not just because they haul so much, but because they are a massive source of income for families.

Building on vacant industrial land is more expensive because you have to clean it up first. It might even be a superfund site, no one is interested in actually finding out. There hasn't been any room on compromise or cleanup assistance in most cases.

The balance in the 90s was double counting social security surplus while also spending it as intra government debt.

The industry as a whole is growing, it's way more than just Sony, and way more than just consoles.

Video games are just another example where the pricing is mostly greed. The market is massively larger than it was in the 90s, digital distribution has massively cut the cost of goods sold, new games are sold with tiered pricing, recuring revenue is now a huge part of a games viability. Game sales aren't the primary income anymore, it's all about keeping whales buying in game items, discounts are only offered when there needs to be a new influx of players to keep whales happy.
