A short history of doing bad things is still a history of doing bad things..

> Attribution is important

Amazing how quickly people forget how these AI companies gained their fortune. The whole existence of modern LLM's is due to taking (stealing) other peoples work without attribution.

> what matters is the journey of human knowledge

This is probably a lot easier to accept when you haven't dedicated your entire life to a specific field of research, and then are made significantly less relevant by a machine.

Serious question: why would he be "heavily" quoted in physics books? I didn't think he was a physicist, is he?

In the "Read On" section at the bottom it says "Author's notes: The one page written by a human." Seems they're pretty open about everything being written with Claude.

> They study this. [Gen Z is 10x more accepting of violence to suppress speech they object to compared to Boomers.](https://expression.fire.org/p/gen-z-is-10-times-more-accepti...)

Seems like this is a direct result of being more exposed to the internet. I'm not sure it's their fault when they are raised with ipads in their lap and multi-billion dollar corporations are shoving propaganda (both sides) down everyone's throat 24/7. I wonder if boomers and gen x would feel the same if they grew up the same way.

> It seems history really does repeat. People are going to need to experience some authoritarianism to remember why we care so much about free speech.

Not sure making people experience authoritarianism is the best way to make people remember why free speech is important. That seems more extreme than anything I've read on Reddit lately. Surely there are better solutions.

This is correct, even just google alone. Most people have their entire lives linked in some way or another to their email address. One ban and you're pretty screwed...

I don't think it's that simple. I don't agree with them banning anything AI related. However, I used to frequent several programming related subereddits that overtime became unbearable because every other post is someone posting an obviously vibe coded horrible slop project. I don't think it's an easy problem to solve on a forum like Reddit.

If I needed someone to build me a complicated application, I would choose the software developer with 20 years of experience before LLM's were capable of helping software developers that uses LLM's to assist over the software developer with 1 year of experience that never learned to code and just uses LLM's for everything but is clueless as to how any of it works.

Same thing with doctors.

I dont see how this film "exposes ones internal biases"?

Right, I don't care about those things either...

People are allowed to criticize things, and many of them are valid criticisms. Personally I'm a lot more interested in what SpaceX is doing in...space. I don't really care at all about this whole flying car thing because who does this really benefit? Pretty much nobody if you think about it.

You would not be the one with the flying car lol

Isn't it already objectively successful? What is your definition of success here?

I thought they meant it figuratively I guess.. I don’t know in hindsight maybe that’s dumb?
