Exactly. One of the most dystopian legal concepts that is just brushed over … or more likely most people don’t know it exists.

Imagine going to trial being charged with a crime and defend against a “pretend” investigation that could have theoretically happened.

Imagine that this passes legal scrutiny.

Mr. Smith after a long investigation and hundreds of hours of detective work we have evidence you are smuggling drugs and justice is served when we found you speeding on interstate 80.

Truth: we just illegally monitored you cell phone and later intercepted your direct conversation after using IMSI catcher to monitor all your texting patterns. An AI system detected an unusual pattern and alerted us to your activity.

Exactly live in rural Midwest. Most vehicles and houses are left unlocked 24 / 7. If you forget you wallet you can still buy things and just come back later to pay. Don’t get me wrong lots of problems in the rural parts but something about how people relate does feel more human or natural IMO.

Recently separated and cash still has lots of practical uses and is needed.

Guess it’s more than speculation, there have been hints and apparent testing of newer google models found in the wild that match closes with top models.

As a former city councilman of a community that installed six flock cameras I can say that the connection with law enforcement and the cameras capabilities and uses is obfuscated.

They are advertised as locally owned and data locally controlled. However when asked what the data can be used for was not given a direct answer.

I asked since the public purchased these cameras can we use the data to determine how many people attended a festival or other city event.

Not any identifiable information just general like how many people traveled to our community to attend the 4th of July fireworks show or local outdoor concert night.

Silence. Nope as the city we cannot access or use any of the data and instead trust that these will be used for law enforcement and safety.

Upon questioning how they would be used and who would be accessing the data found the answers to be quite generalized.

My two cents is if we are going to have flock cameras or not … law enforcement and the company need to be more transparent on what data is stored, how it is accessed, who can access, how it links to other cameras in other communities, how is misuse identified, what access do federal agencies have to this data (do they have to ask the local community first or can they just login with some super user account and pull data etc)

I get the sense that if Flock were to be transparent about how these truly function less communities would be willing to purchase .. but I could be wrong.

I suspect google has a model that is at the same level but is waiting strategically to release rather than this constant week to week dash.

Still seems to me like google is in a good position with AI just based on their size and approach.

Yeah I took a 2012 iMac , loaded Ubuntu and it runs latest Firefox and chrome like lightening. Take same 2012 iMac and run latest macOS it is allowed to run and it runs super super slow.

This is clearly by design. They like to advertise long support windows but they cripple older devices through software and OS features causing older devices to run much much slower.

I have seen this for years from Apple and it would be hard to convince me that this isn’t done by design.

It won’t be gone I agree with you there. However I don’t think this will replace the current phone size as the default. Think will be kind of a niche product.

2,000$. No thanks. Not convinced there is a big market for this device although not upset Apple trying new things.

I don’t like the Apple Watch from a charging perspective all models. For me a watch should be less phone wannabe and more functional with a 5-7 day charge. All the Apple Watches I have had last about 1 day which to me is just kind of annoying. To me it feels the device tries to do too much that just isn’t needed and is easier with a phone. However they sell well so I must be in the minority.

As a software engineer you may be lacking a sense of selfhood(outside of external validation and roles). You may find you are kind of a people pleaser, confident at work, but also privately resentful at times.

The software engineering job skips dealing directly emotional regulation, experiencing emotions and directly confronting others in vulnerable way or a negative way like boundaries.

Instead you are given a problem, and you can fix the problem, control the variables and see if your solution works logically and tangibly.

You cannot do this with people interactions. Emotional orbits, feelings, insecurities, needs, wants are messy overlap .. are not easily definable , and flux … software engineers may not thrive here I would guess.

AI may burst in terms of the subscription model pushed by large corporations here in the US. AI is here to stay as a technology, there is no question at this point that it is powerful effective and a transformative development in human history. Not sure where we go from here but AI is not going away.

This is just a waste of tax payer money and will have zero impact on safety. If anything malfunctioning pepper spraying drones is more likely than an active shooter.

This is a mistake. The last 2 doom games sold quite well and have a unique look and feel that is associated with idtech. This could backfire on Microsoft big time.
