Zig can also compile to C so at least it's as portable.

Maybe people are having fun reinventing the wheel? Maybe they want to try other ways to solve the same problem or pick different trade-offs. Maybe they don't like the license, plenty of software has been written from scratch just to avoid the license of existing software.

Try Codeberg, it's specifically for Open Source.

And I guess this is why I don't like Free Jazz. It sits close to the random noise side of the spectrum. I guess other people can feel the patterns in it.

Just call it CVE-2026-111497. More accurate and much easier to remember and to talk about with your boss.

They feel harmed by the AI companies training AI on their data so they feel retaliation is justified.

The unforseen consequences of progress? Nobody thought cars would be bad for the environment when they were inventing them. Heck, 5 years ago nobody was thinking seriously about AI having the potential to exterminate us.

I wonder if a rust-to-c tool would help you, your mold2 would just be the cached result of that. Would that C code still be treated as a binary dependency since it would not be very human readable?

How about a rust-to-wasm process, you store the wasm binary, but have a human readable wasm interpreter that only implements enough for mold to work? Would that be trusty enough?

If you are gonna use LLMs to put the code in prose, skip the middleman and just read the code & tests directly, it is actually pretty readable.

You can't RTFM. The language is in development and any manual would get out of date fast. It's better use of their limited resources to focus on completing the language, then focus on the manual once the language is not a moving target.

I wonder if their very long words result in more or less token usage.

I'd rather them be frank than use corpospeak.

Sending a repro and saying you don't understand why it doesn't work is valid too.

Why such high expectations from a 0.x project? They explicitly break backwards compatibility now so they don't have to do it once 1.0 comes. There's nothing wrong with waiting a few years before trying Zig.
