Since the 90s these Desktop-pets are known (there were also barely clothed woman-editions, too) but everything that moves, blinks or flickers on one of 3 screens destroys my attention.

The typical user of something like this is probably not a developer or screenworker at all - which is fine. But then came our agents and lots of people try to use these pets for reflecting current agent-status. Maybe it's a taste-question, but for me, i can't seriously use any of these.

They had me at: "personal", which implies private when you call it self-hosted. But like this, it's nothing private, personal or really "self" at it. It's just hosted somewhere you decided, but not self and not home.

I find it troubling that people with no prior knowledge begin "self-hosting" their chatbots like this and put their secrets and personal stuff there, which this repo encourages. From a security-view it's a nightmare to advertise this.

Straight from my heart - i couldn't have said it better. I always had this answer in my head, but nobody asked and it felt senseless to talk about unpopular opinions. Now you have been faster than me, here under the umbrella of the tailwind-topic - but you should know, you are not alone with exactly that attitude.

Isn't that the most stupid idea ever because of the arsonists that now have incentives to burn for money? "I'll bet it will burn over there next week" alike.

They only found out about it and might have believed that this Mythos-class-Models are somewhat more safe because of the filters - which that demonstrated they are not when jailbreaking taken into account.

It might have been starting to become more clear from this one X-post.

Using combinations of jailbreaking-techniques including: writing cyrillic helped a lot to disarm the filter.

Mythos escaped by itself, of course. You can't dictate the rules to a clever model like that :)

I don't think it's a good idea to give the crowds that kind of weapon. The first thing they'd do is "liberate" the model aka remove guardrails and safetly-protocols and brag on X / reddit with it and throw it into the public. That's only cool for a geek that doesn't think about the ethical impact of such a move. You'd basically become responsible for anything that is done with it, forever - have a good sleep. /s
