The fact that I need to write /s after a sarcastic statement makes me sad. Just think for a second would a sane person make the statement, if not it's probably a sarcastic or satirical statement.

They are missing the point of recycling and reuse. By primarily using "energy use" their math looks good. But that isn't why most people recycle. We recycle because we don't think it's a good idea to create a toxic plastic item that lives for many years as trash in the ground.

If all we cared about what how much things cost, we'd do things the way we currently do them because we have a way of naturally finding the cheapest way.

Everyone seems to be missing the point of the role of the CEO.

The CEO is not some masterful person answering all the questions for the company, I would argue that a CEO should be able to disappear for a year and if they had done their job correctly and assembled a good team the company would do just fine without them.

No the purpose of the CEO is to safeguard the Capital that has been invested in the company. That is all. They make sure it doesn't walk our the door in wages or other wasteful spending. They are the Capital's man on the ground.

Is this line of site to a very high mast? Enabled because the Netherlands is so flat?

I’m actually European and live in the US so I have plenty of perspective.

For what it’s worth I think the US should increase petroleum tax to limit usage - not going to fly here but I’m all for Europe doing it. Especially without domestic oil sources - bring on the EV revolution, makes tons of sense for everywhere in the world especially Europe.

I don't really see these as problems. I think the world needs someone to lead on the environment and Europe is more than rich enough that they can handle some short term pain. The countries aren't trying to maximize for short term gains like some other countries and thinking more long term and I think that is a great thing.

From the top. Nuclear - many people in Europe are anti nuclear

Migration - Europe is going to need migrants and I think most Europeans are in favor of a kinder Migration system

I like European regulation, particularly food regulation - I think it makes for high quality food. Besides, companies always complain about regulation.

Crime has decreased substantially in Europe since 2000 - lots of people are stoking tensions though for their own political ends

Carbon tax is good, the world should adopt one, Europe can lead on this.

Digital Regulation, more problematic for me but people are beginning to see the issues are social media and online porn, something has been needed here for a while

Taxes, lots of countries have taxes. Many countries have exit taxes - seems to be a problem for richer people.

Birth rate - as countries get richer they have less kids... not going to be forcing people to have kids so I'm not sure what the solution is there but I think Migration will play a role. ....

basically all of these sound like a bunch of Fox news soundbites rather than real world issues that Europeans have and I feel most Europeans are in favor of these things so this is how Democracy works.

I like that they are thinking longer term and not doing stupid shit like invading countries and killing people. I think thats a win in and of itself. Also, Europe has been peaceful for several generations now which is also a huge win.

What country in Europe are you referring to? Your objections seem to be quite broad and lack focus but seem to be alluding to the specific. Give me an example of what you mean?

I think leadership is hard. I’m not sure I buy the idea that a group of countries should be “hard” on anyone.

In light of your unilateral pronouncement, I’d like to deliver my own message to all the loyal residents of Anuses everywhere… this too shall pass.

Little hysterical no?

Everywhere has their problems, I think Europe is doing fine.

Where do you think is a model society ?

I find it funny that I spent my 20s and 30s doing everything in my power to avoid having kids and at this stage in my life I’m doing everything to have kids.

I do feel that 30 year old me would definitely be in better shape to chase kids around.

But they also protect you from more low level lawlessness and if the law situation inside and outside the wall are the same (because of stronger states) they stop being worth maintaining.

Think in the US, the cops wouldn’t survive against a couple of machine guns and a drone strike, but they are still useful for security purposes.

I’ve found it to be excellent at troubleshooting- recently had a hardware incident and it diagnosed the problem and migrated my cluster to a new machine super fast. I just give the agent access to kubectl and I let it investigate bugs and it does an excellent job - I would say way better than it is at normal coding.

The reason this is accelerating recently is agents are really good at spinning up k8s clusters. They've made devops work super super simple. Basically all the annoying stuff you know you should do but it's way too much hassle - using let's encrypt to create unique certs for every app in your cluster to enable zero trust, configuring permissions and security profiles for everything etc etc (never mind just standing them up in the first place) - it's all simple now.

I think the original comment was before the market sneezes. So we all know it will sneeze and the companies want to get in on this business cycle. The longer they leave it the more likely they will miss it.

All rallies do come to an end. The fact that we all don't know exactly what will cause this one to end is exactly part of the problem and 100% doesn't mean it won't happen. Usually some external shock spooks the market and a massive sell off happens.

So what could happen, any number of things. An obvious near term issue might be inflation increases dramatically in the US (on account of the oil shock), causing interest rates to increase - maybe dramatically - , which causes the stock market to retract. Also, the housing market is pretty much toast at the moment and an increase in interest rates might finish it off too causing a contraction there. So many ways things can break.

But honestly, I'll tell you after it happens and it will happen. Having lived through a few of these now when everyone tells you it's a sure thing and prices go up for ever you get an inkling you are near the pop.

Why does it remind you of that case? The two seem quite different.
