I think the GWh unit is misleading. 20.2 GWh is a 5MW power plant supplying power for 1 hour.

Because money has no value, if you don't give it one. If you make infinite money, it's worth 0. Same with the 100 companies - OpenAI and Anthropic are worth something, only if there's someone to buy the tokens. If any of them successfully proves that having a company is worthless, many companies fail, and then there's no one to buy the tokens.

You are forgetting something very important. Microsoft has a much better track record of data policies being correctly enforced. Neither OpenAi or Anthropic have that.

It's not about the model or who gets the bribe, like a few folks in this thread imply, it's simply the guarantees that Microsoft is able to give to a public institution about what happens to their data.

We don't do politics here on HN, but I wouldn't touch a needle made by one of the companies of this douchebag. I'm talking here as a consumer who might end up on the wrong side of this guy's political ambitions.

How is this different from you not knowing what you are doing and adding products to your online store's DB for negative dollars? It's not, it's just easier.

Does that mean that Void will drop the Linux part? Linus very publicly announced they welcome AI submissions.

Seems like a very dumb hill to die on in 2026

You're a banking app. Why do you need to check my phone or my os? The security is not in what phone I use, but in how sane your 2-factor auth is and if even exists.

Right ... While we do that, let's also retype the assembly code the compiler produces, do the linking manually and check you got the same result as the linker, and then finally write the bytes yourself. Whether or not you manually bit-bang à la Morse code the bits to storage is left as an exercise to the reader.

It's even funnier because an attack, until proven otherwise, should make you assume the data has already left the environment.

We had that almost 80 years ago for a few decades, but we shot a guy at the end of it. I hope the next one to suggest something like this remembers the history and refrains from it.

It did help the West, and especially the UK, to get as immigrants very high good plumbers and handy men. The rest of us went into STEM and are now working for FAANGS.

It's funny the page recommends de-Googled phones, but requires a Google service(reCaptcha) to view the page.
