I suppose that “the impact of the new government will be brief but striking.” That’s how it always ends in situations like this.

If scientific intellect were that successful in politics and governance, then academic cliques would be in power all over the world. And every governor would have a Ph.D.

The more honest and highly educated people gather in one room to decide important issues, the harder the fight will be. And the more sad the outcome.

Science has more or less figured out the causes of such processes, but so far it cannot offer a recipe for sustainable governance. Dictatorship works most effectively, but only for a short period and then stagnates. Autocracy is theoretically better, but depends heavily on specific individuals. Oligarchy is, as a rule, the agony of transitional periods. Democracy in its classical form is complete rubbish; in the form of a masked plutocracy — well, it’s something in between, on par with autocracy. There was some hope for technocracy, but it seems to be failing because the technocrats aren’t really the real ones.

Alas, there’s no good news for anyone.

Yes, UUIDv7 doesn't have the same charm and texture as tree notches. But it's been a huge help with my tables containing billions of records.

Sure, we could use faster alternatives specifically for indexes - but UUIDs are used throughout all business processes. Setting up a separate "conversion to UUID" step seems like a waste.

I've always wanted a color E-Ink tablet, but I could never figure out exactly why. Doctor, what's wrong with me?

I'm in a completely different field. My models band for my nextgen code-graph mcp tool (not released yet): https://huggingface.co/faxenoff/

All encoders can run TRT/OV/TVM/MLX/COREML - they are launched on the most suitable device for a specific phase and a specific device (with maximum parallelism).

I don't think this SCM stores only code. I think more than 80% of it consists of tests and various types of gold data. All of this is constantly changing, and we need to keep track of it somehow.

It sounds interesting, but what are the actual advantages compared to a standard HTTP client? At what data volume does performance parity begin?

I think this is a great feature, but it's still at the MVP stage. As a UX designer, I'd suggest that Anthropic develop more options for providing feedback on the model’s actions.

- Right now, I can only accept or reject the suggested response. Adding or editing it requires a lot of steps.

- It would be great to have a neat autocomplete feature. That's because prompts always need to be detailed, and that means typing a lot of text that’s essentially already in the context (and that's exactly what we should be using).

- It would be better to have a menu with action options and not have to type anything at all. Previously, Claude did a good job displaying a UI with different options (but for some reason, it stopped working for me specifically - probably because I specify everything in as much detail as possible).

- Again, providing details means the user explicitly agrees to the conditions, and the prompt is more effective on every level—plus, it caches better. Otherwise, users usually write something like: "Do everything, but switch the left one to the right and flip the one on the far end twice" (in response to three blocks of lists with task IDs) - even other people wouldn’t understand that.

As a regular user of a bunch of specialized micromodels, I'll tell you this: you won't be happy with such a model (and its JEV counterparts) running permanently in the background on your PC's CPU. You need to offload their processing to the NPU. There are many pitfalls along the way, but the result is worth it.

NPU performance will be twice as high, while power consumption will be four times lower. No additional fan noise (if you know what I mean).

I'll wait another month until the first phase of the =battle royale= among models of this kind wraps up, put together a solution for the NPU/iGPU, and post it on HF.

I like all those cute little home decor items, too.

But honestly, I'd love for the entire ceiling to be one controllable light source. That would be perfect.

I was impressed by bun from the very beginning, and that continued until I needed to use native GPU calls. I had to switch to Node.js subprocesses.

When comparing Bun and Node.js for my tasks, I keep finding more advantages in Bun’s optimizations. I'll handle GPU processes through BFFI. Node.js is also prone to unstable memory behavior with native processes, so it doesn’t make sense to use it as an extra layer.

For those looking for stability, Node.js is definitely the better choice.

Is there any kind of geeky service that lists the range of political views held by the founders of all popular software products? Otherwise, maybe half the software on my computer was made by fascists, and I don't even know it.

For example, Linux — how fascist, communist, or monarchist is it? I'd also be interested to know which NVIDIA drivers are more supportive of the LGBT community—the open-source ones or the proprietary ones?

I had never even thought about this until your comment.
