Amazing how this doesn’t consider a future where “AI” is non-obligatory.

This kind of retrospective meant something when the software was made with care. Now it’s a sloppy something that takes care only in making profits. UX became irrelevant.

Amazing. I bet this can really help thousands of programmers who are simply not needed, because companies decided to replace them with AI agents. These philosophical ponders are very comfortable to do when your ass is safe. Most of people don’t have this privilege.

> what if what we loved about this job was never only the code?

It never was the code. The code is how you solve problems, make stuff happen. The code is a tool. It’s people’s brain that is of value. People learn how to use these tools the best they can. And now they are told that they should become mere supervisors for the AI agents. Simply by trusting the output and QA-ing the result. Because no human can keep track of the AI’s generated mess.

> I was frustrated with writing apps

Oh my hod… This absolutely AI generated intro.

I can understand startups relying on AI tools to test out the ideas. But personal/hobby projects? Feels weird. This is not the place to go fast. Take your time, enjoy the process, learn/make things.

I don’t believe you.

Considering the amount of AI used, it’s hard to call it a passion. You don’t delegate the whole project to AI if it’s your passion. I see stuff like this on different subreddits every day. The overall look and feel matches perfectly a one-off vibe coded project.

Never thought that people on HN would be seriously discussing an obviously vibe coded thing.

> Good engineers have become more valuable because AI lets them move much faster. They don't need as many people around them just to do the implementation work anymore.

This would be true if the goal was to get good working code faster. But the actual goal is to get any code faster. So, in reality, it doesn’t matter whether you are a good or a bad engineer. It just amplified how good you are at manipulating the hiring process with your fine tuned resume and how smoothly you can talk your way through.

The govs consist of people who have their own agendas. Mass surveillance is something they all are aligned on.

What’s up with filtering of clearly low effort AI posts here?

Every now and then I see this crap here. And people even engage into discussion. This is ridiculous.

> They’re going to land an in person interview

Not necessarily. It can be either an AI interview or a record that will be analysed by AI later. So there’s a chance to cheat here as well.

My first thought. The title is so typical for this kind of projects.
