If the company folds, everyone else loses their job. So, why is your family more important than everyone else's?

For some people that would be a lot of effort, since the only value they can bring into relationships is their genitalia.

> I would think that OKC, etc. would in the end benefit from their contribution.

That's BS and you know it. If that were the case, OP's startup should've bought ads on OKC and OKC would be glad to sell ad space. I really doubt that OKC or its parent company will sell ads to a competitor dating site.

It's not "spamming", it's Growth Hacking ™.

The cynic in me says that by increasing the number of programmers available they can pay less.

The same reason, I believe, why FB is so keen about immigration.

> Asians are considered privileged academically. In America they get better grades than average, on average.

So studying more and harder and partying less is considered a privilege?

The only people "being beaten up" are the black blocs and rightfully, IMHO. And it's not daily.

We should compile in a Wiki (or something similar) everything that might make someone uncomfortable.

That way, we can look up and make sure this thing never happens. Then, with any luck, a strawperson (not strawman) will never feel like that for something on the internet again.

> that privilege doesn't exist because you haven't been on the wrong side does no good to yourself or society.

Know who is on the wrong side? Poor people born in 3rd world countries, with no food, jobs, infrastructure, nothing. On the top of that, a lot of them live in a freaking civil war.

People born in the USA, man or woman, who is middle-class+, is privileged beyond any dream of the majority of the world population.

That's beyond distasteful. Node.js seems to be the new Rails/Ruby community, from a couple of years ago, drama-wise.

And, ironically, this is on his profile: "I don't look at this site much, because it turns people into jerks."

It's nice to see the difference between someone who sees something wrong and actually does something about it just because and someone who asks the Internet for money and deliver a video 9 months later.

Also, for something that took 9 months and loads of money, there isn't really anything new there that hasn't been said before.
