honestly, yeah. I just saw "command line parser" and dismissed the rest as useless bloat

>Command line argument parsing

20-30 LoC maybe. `process.argv.slice(2).forEach(str => ... )`.

there is no access to the raw command-line invocation, sadly, so you really can't really do anything fancier than that.

>config loading

that thing "RC" package does - looking up the config file in random locations - is really strange to me. aren't you the one in control of where it is stored?

I checked the readme of both those packages and I can't for the life of me understand why would anyone use either of them.

Why the fuck do all these leftpad is-even hello-world tic-tac-toe packages have millions of downloads?

moderation is not censorship.

punishing someone for breaking the rules - not vague "we reserve the right to fuck you in the ass for any reason or no reason at all" kind of bullshit rules employed by facebook/twitter/reddit/whatever - is not considered censorship even at the kinds of places where people are particularly sensitive to it - for example, people don't accuse moderators of censorship when someone posts porn on 4chan's safe-for-work boards and it then gets deleted.

besides, facebook/twitter/reddit/whatever, despite being centralized and authoritarian services, aren't equipped to combat abuse any better than decentralized entities, the only difference being that instead of blatant low-effort buy-penis-pills spam they are targeted for subtle manipulation at industrial scale.

people who need that kind of hardware don't give a fuck about 0.05$/hour it costs to run it at 100% load.

and who is going to actually audit all that garbage? lmao

it's not just fonts.

I wish more devs/designers/managers/whatever realized how many people access the internet either on a slow connection or a slow device or both. even in the first world, most areas outside of city limits is spotty 3G territory.

also, nobody gives a fuck about all the fancy bullshit. how many top websites look like something from awwwards?

so far, nobody has been more successful at decreasing the firefox user base than the actual firefox developers.

mozilla is not the kind of entity I'd want to have control over the web either, considering the shit they feel comfortable doing even as an underdog with 3% market share.

that's exactly the case. the rewrite took years, and it is only somewhat functional, but I don't blame the dev. pre-quantum version was a finished product, and then suddenly it had to be written from scratch again. I'm surprised he had bothered to do that at all, personally I'd never contribute anything to firefox again after that fucking stunt.

>That Energy Balance Model (EBM) seems to make intuitive sense: we gain weight because we consume more calories than we burn. However, as the authors note in the abstract, “Conceptualizing obesity as a disorder of energy balance restates a principle of physics without considering the biological mechanisms that promote weight gain.”

>Instead, in the Carbohydrate Insulin Model (CIM), they offer as an alternative, the types of food we eat—particularly excessive carbohydrates (including added sugars and refined grains)—change our hormonal balance in a way that makes our body store more fat, and that makes us obese.

this seems trivial to prove that theory. get a number of test subjects, calculate their BMR via direct calorimetry, restrict their physical activity and feed half of them a diet of supermarket garbage, and the other half a nice and balanced diet, then publish the results.

have any of the researches who seek to debunk the laws of thermodynamics attempted to do that?
