I don’t think I would ever stop laughing if I was driving down the highway at night and saw hello.jpg shining brightly from an LED billboard.

A datacenter needs electrical switchgear, UPSes for short term backup, generators for long term backup, and cooling equipment. All of these items plus the labor to install them (along with piping, wire, conduit) account for probably 90%+ of the cost of the buildout.

CAT sells diesel generators and gas turbine generators which are needed by every data center. There are two mature generator manufacturers in the US (Cummins and CAT) plus Generac (yes I’m aware of MTU/Kohler/etc) and their backlog is long enough that Amazon bought part of Generac.

> Especially the fact that TLS certificates that customers entrusted bunny now need to be revoked by the customers themselves. This detail was at the very last of the email I got and it was the only part I did not like, because it means customer secrets were indeed compromised.

It does not mean that at all, it’s sane risk management. There was an opportunity for someone to steal customer secrets so the safe thing to do is assume everything was compromised and revoke/reissue certificates even if nothing was stolen.

FWIW Kubota has 1100 dealerships that stock parts across North America.

I’ll leave it at that, I see where this discussion is going and I have no interest in taking it there.

> Crypto was supposed to be a solution to your government devaluing the rewards of your residual labor in the form of their currency.

There’s already a solution, use the currency to buy assets denominated in that currency. Crypto was not needed when bonds, stocks, real estate, etc exist.

There are hundreds of trillions of dollars in assets to buy whose value increase over time may beat inflation, I’m surprised you’re not aware of this solution.

0.5% of my net worth is in cash, the other 99.5% is in dollar denominated assets. Cash is a unit of exchange and a unit of account, not an asset.

Iceland isn’t a global financial powerhouse and it has a low population. My county has twice as many people as Iceland, the city I live in has as many residents as Iceland has citizens.

You can already buy tractors like that from Kubota, a company that has been around for 136 years. I would just do that and avoid the risk of the new company going under and being stuck without spare parts.

This company reminds me of other companies that rebrand an existing idea and try to sell investors on the idea that it’s a new thing. Directional boring becomes ‘microtunneling’ and some startup thinks they’re revolutionizing a mature product that has been around for decades, they improve the process slightly but it’s much more expensive.

> Sure, but the pizzeria charges less than $4 for delivery and don't want a tip.

The rest of the delivery charge is ‘baked’ into the price of the food.

> Also, why would those who pay to be there have to wait in line, but people who get paid by a third-party service to be there don’t? That doesn’t make sense.

The dine-in customers have not paid for or ordered their food, to do so they must wait in line.

The delivery driver is being handed a bag of food that is ready to go and paid for.

Many restaurants are already set up to accommodate online to-go orders. Chik-Fil-A has a separate drive-thru line for online orders, Chipotle lets people come up and get to-go orders that have been paid, same with Potbelly, it’s very common. It’s mildly annoying when you’re the one waiting in line but I don’t expect a delivery driver to wait in line to be handed a bag.

A restaurant with a physical presence with dine in service has a reputation to maintain, a ‘cloud kitchen’ food seller does not have the same reputation to worry about.

> Why are so many people commenting things like "I don't get why people use these services"?

Paying an extra $10-12 in tips and fees to have some courier a meal directly to your door is ridiculously cheap, a courier service would charge 4x as much for a similar courier trip.

Indeed, variable frequency drives for three-phase AC induction motors are available for single horsepower motors. A VFD rectifies the incoming AC to DC which then flows through a capacitor and into an inverter which converts the DC to quasi-sine (stepped) three-phase AC for use by the induction motor.
