This has been my issue as well - screens waking or not waking up. On latest Linux Mint and everything is great except when switching back and forth inputs between my personal and work laptop (running Windows), I have to do it twice going to my personal laptop or else the external monitor won't show.

They also tend to have higher fees and a smaller return than managing it yourself with index funds and bonds. But for people that don't want to do that it is a good option none the less.

Actually at a previous company we had to use a service that did exactly this because we had to send money to various businesses and they didn't all have ACH/etc setup. So we had to use a relatively archaic service and API to send out physical checks. Not sure how big of a market it is, but there is definitely a need at least on the business side.

There are savings account setups that do offer separate accounts for various buckets that do something like this - it may not be daily, but monthly or bi-weekly. I use smartyPig for this and it really is helpful. More helpful than just budgeting but still having the money sitting in the account.

In the last couple of weeks we posted a job for a junior .NET dev and got over 800 resumes within days. The automation is killing both the employer having to sift through it all and the employee possibly getting lost in the mix.

I do wonder how much affect it has. At least in the US most insurance companies won't cover them (unless you already have diabetes, for example) and at over $1,000 a month I can't see how the people who could really benefit from this to lower the numbers can possibly afford it.

These are FAANG monies. The rest of the US normals (which is the vast majority) don't have these stock options and thus that kind of money.

Notepad++ ...There are alternatives, but none that save the current session (including unsaved files). The best option was to run it through Wine, but that seems overkill for a notepad style app.

And thats my beef every time I switch to Linux, I come back to Windows because the apps in Windows are there and it just works. I used Linux Mint for a year, but it was a lot of finding similar but not quite as good apps as what I would use on Windows.

Let's see my BE language progression went from...

Apple Logo->Commodore BASIC->Fortran->Pascal->PHP->Java->VB6->.NET...and other modern things.

...With scripts of various types mixed in there. But BASIC is what got me hooked. Being able to write my own games on the Commodore 128 was fantastically addicting. Leaving demo store Commodore's flashing background colors with POKE 53281 and looping around felt like I was the king of the world.

Unless you simply want to play with all the various bits of hardware, a standard PC tower will be more power efficient and save a lot of room. I use that with unRaid and a simple router and switch and it's power efficient, doesn't make much noise, cheaper, and takes up much less room.

So much this. I used to love playing games as a kid, but now I watch game demos now and all it looks like to me is work. Someone/thing telling me to go do this and that. Keep track of all my work so I can be assigned more of it. I might as well just go code something.

It doesn't mention (or I missed it), but I wonder what the idle power usage is on these. I know with Nvidia cards you can run nvidia-persistenced to keep it in a lower power state on idle, not sure what to do with AMD cards (if anything is needed).

Similarly check out https://protoweb.org/about/. They dont have every site, but they also include a fun 'antique' youtube where you get to stream with Real player or windows media player to bring back the 'greatness' of those products.
