Especially when they say:

> Don’t feel like you have continue the conversation if they respond. You can if you want, but don’t feel obligated.

Then why did you write?! What kind of "good human being" are you?

Noise, if it does not support the claim. Signal otherwise.

I would have taken the yellow book and called every bakery listed there to check if they were open. I think sometimes the impact of technology is overstated :)

Just replaced for the first time battery on my Macbook Pro 2015 Retina. Feel so good using such an old piece of hardware.

If I was a hiring manager, I would certainly appreciate this attitude. However, I would value as well a person who would use an already made tool for doing the job (such as yt-dlp). Only problem is that the second type wouldn't write a blog post about it and get traction on HN :D

If he said there's 50% chances, then he'll be right in any case.

In this case was also subsidized by the companies offering the deals. And I guess they had less money to waste than VCs...

Actually my experience is the opposite. In colder climates such as Russia, Finland I have seen room temperatures to be quite mild, above 20C for sure. However, in Italy in winter it is quite cold inside.

Needless to say that thermal insulation is awful in IT.

Totally agree with you. However, some times I think most of the people take what they're given and the 'radicals' are just a small percentage of the total. Manufacturers simply decide to make what is cheaper for them (see for example 16:10 vs 16:9 for monitors).

> As I was typing this, a great example of said broken crap, is Lenovo popping up a MessageBox asking me to reboot to update my firmware. Didn't software developers all agree well over a decade ago that windows stealing focus was not a good thing? So why then is a top of the line brand in the PC world writing shit like this?

Don't think that MacOS spares you about that either. Update notifications are equally distracting.

Exactly. Especially considering that the plot shows only percentages.

For the author of the blog post it would be better to draw conclusions about 'developers disappearance' from a plot showing absolute numbers.

Quick question: does anyone know what involvement there is between Sourcehut and OpenStreetMap Foundation? Just curious as they do not seem related at a first glance.

HN is not about downvoting things one disagrees with but rather posts that do not add anything to the discussion.

Same holds for upvoting, many times I upvoted posts I did not agree with but that raised interesting observations on the topic discussed.

This is what makes HN great in my opinion.
